bet-a-pot's blog

Few pics from the road...

Hi all,

Haven't been blogging a lot since I have been super busy... I have basically been just working, writing and travelling...

Next week I'm going to Malta with a bunch of friends to play the Unibet Open Malta main event. We have a luxury flat rented just 20 meters (use the converter for yards lol) away from the casino, so it's going to be both fun and expensive. Haven't been grinding online at all, just a few sunday tournaments and GSOP events with ok results, but have to start grinding again after Malta (maybe to Estonia before the grind though).

Attached few pics from the last few months to make you hate me. Talk to you laters!

About PLO swongss, Malta and Mr. CEO

Hi all Coinflippers...

It has been a while... Swings have been huge (-30 buy ins, +20 buyins etcetc...) but luckily I have been playing with a strict BRM. Unibet Open Valencia was super fun, but lost like €3K there (including expenses).

It was confirmed today that I'll be going to Malta next month for two weeks! That's very cool because the Finnish climate sucks this time of year. There are going to be loads of live poker and many players from Finland are coming along for the IPT, GSOP Live, EMOP Malta etc, so it's going to be huge.

In other news, made a small video clip about Erik "neverlostaflip" the CEO, where he busts three of the Coinflip VIP Team members in a single PLO flip. Next time it's our turn and the stakes will be higher...

Laters!

Good times, bad times, Valencia

I really thought I'd go broke this year.

Had 5+ super expensive trips this summer and almost managed to go through with the plan, but in Unibet Open Prague two months ago everything changed.

Haven't had a losing trip after that and I'm up around €13,000 online too, mainly from PLO200. Things are looking bright.

I'm currently travelling to Spain to play the Unibet Open Valencia main event tomorrow. Otherwise this trip would be great fun but I'm sharing a hotel room with the luckiest fish in the world, Coinflip VIP Team member Noikul. He has been running like god in chinese and laughing and singing all the time so it has been a living hell so far. Managed to win €1K online yesterday, but still on super tilt because of Noikul.

There are at least two coinflippers playing the main event and Krenjuussa is thinking of joining us too, so we'll post updates of the main event performance here.

Off to Valencia,

VAMOS!

VICTORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

I used to tilt a lot. Now when grinding more it's easier, but as you all know, it's never that easy.

I play only evenings and usually like today, I'm very tired even when I'm just starting the session. Had a decent start to the session and won more than 10 buy ins playing very solid. Then it all started.

In just 300 hands I had dropped 3K in real money and 1,2K in expected winnings. Usually that does it and the software goes all "End process" to prevent from any more damage.

Not tonight.

Started concentrating more soon to find out I was breaking even again. In one more hour, found myself winning 3,5K€ which is a lot to my online bankroll (more than 15% that is).

Hope this will be a trend rather than an exception.

Boys' Night Out in Prague

And it's time to wrap up the bet-a-pot's Countdown to Busto Euro trip.

As it turned out, I didn't go to bust-o-land just yet. Managed to finish the last trip around €6K up after expenses. Cash games were the main source of income, but won loads from chinese poker and drunken flippin' as well.

Tomorrow (Thursday) will play the €600+€30 Terminator NLHE in the Finnish Open held in Grand Casino Helsinki, and on Saturday, it's time for another legendary Pokerisivut (the Finnish Coinflip) party.

I still haven't told you anything about the trip to Unibet Open Prague, so here we go!

(Didn't feel like writing so used pictures instead...)

After a long all-nighter at Grand Casino Helsinki playing PLO we took a flight to Prague and straight to the table...

Unibet Open Prague (blog)

...and play 9 levels just to be busted out by my friend Henri Ojala. I didn't mind because there were parties to attend to...

...and as it turned out, Henri managed to final table the Main Event. That being said, I took over the live stream commentary booth after few morning tequilas...

From Robusto to Busto V - Yalta

Part one of the bet-a-pot's Countdown to Busto Euro trip is over.

First stop was in Yalta, Ukraine where I travelled with bunch of friends to play Betfair LIVE! Yalta $900 main event.

Yalta, titled as "Crimean Riviera", is a beautiful semi-soviet place in the Northern coast of the Black Sea.

To get to Yalta, you have to take a flight to Simferopol (86 kilometers from Yalta), and take a taxi (approx. $65) or a bus (approx. $3) to Yalta. Best way to get to Simferopol is via Borispol airport (Kiev).

In June 2009, Ukranian government closed all casinos and gambling is illegal. There are places to play poker, though. Poker Clubs are popular in Kiev, and there are also a few in Yalta, too.

If you're playing poker, best way to stay in Yalta is to book a room from Yalta Intourist hotel during the high season (summer), which accommodates one of the clubs, Cadillac Poker Club in the basement floor.

Yalta is a great place for a group of players to go on a poker vacation. Vodka is very cheap (around €12 / bottle including mixers, and there are loads of places that serve shisha and drinks / sushi / food around the beach. If you're into hitting on girls, study and learn few words in Russian before the trip, because only a few Ukranian (at least Crimean) speak English very well.

From Robusto to Busto IV - Euro Tour

Back from Las Vegas. 15 days, countless hours of live poker and yes, we had a blast. One of the essential things to do in LV is to rent a car. Our weapon of choice was a '71 Cadillac Eldorado, and we cruised the strip for hours (with open containers) and had the time of our lives.

Fish

Although now I'm almost broke (travelling since 1st of June), there are still something to do this summer. After going to Pori Jazz Festival in Finland (Massive Attack, N.E.R.D., The Roots etc), it's time to find my passport again and hit the road again.

1st stop - Yalta

Yalta

Will travel to Ukraine (from 25th July to 30th July) to play the Betfair LIVE! Yalta $900 Main Event with a group of friends.

2nd stop - Prague

Prague

Will play the Unibet Open Prague €1650 Main Event (from 5th to 8th August). There are around 40 Finns going there so needless to say the trip will be all about partying. Can't wait...

If you are going to play in either of these events or just live nearby, give me a shout!

Stay tuned for the Euro trip updates!!

Coinflip in Las Vegas, 9th July

It's Friday, bitches!

Almost two weeks have gone very quicky and almost everything has happened. Have met some very cool people, we've been partying a lot, gambling a lot, grinding countless hours and done all we've could to really enjoy Vegas.

Attached some pics from the last few days. Yesterday rented a '71 Cadillac Eldorado, needless to say it was a blast.

If there are Coinflip regulars here in las Vegas, we could meet up somewhere here for drinks? Does Monday sound good?

Coinflip in Las Vegas, 5th July

It's 2 pm and just woke up. Last night was a blast, railed my friend Ville who finished third in the $10K PLO and headed out afterwards.

On Saturday hung out with Dan "Blitz" Bilzerian and other Victory Poker guys and we made a day out of it. Interviews, burgers, weapons, models and a spectacular view, coudn't ask for more.

See some of the pics on the right hand side (random order).

Have managed to actually win some from poker too... Played a long session of 1/2 NL and went to bed $1K richer.

Now off to Rio, see ya!

Coinflip in Las Vegas, 3rd July

It's my fourth (?) day here and have been working a lot.

We went out with my Finnish friends on Wednesday, and somehow managed to lose around $1K without any idea where. Thursday and Friday worked and played live a lot, managed to climb to 4th place in Caesar's Palace 10pm nightly and got $570 out of it. Cash games have been ok, but last night broke even because few sick beats. Included few pics found from the camera memory card...

Soon leaving to Rio to see how durrrr is doing in the 10K PLO... Not really, my friend Ville is still in the tournament with a decent stack, so good luck to him! After Rio we'll head to the Victory Poker BBQ thing and meet Team Victory and other Coinflip Crew.

After the BBQ thing we are going to see the UFC 116 live in the MGM Grand. Tonight will be just another day in the office.
