I had a weekend of mixed emotions to say the least. On friday I couldn't get anything going at the 1/3 NLHE... I won't get into specifics but let's just say if I had rolled the dice they would have come up 13. Actually when I was waiting for a friend to finish up I grabbed a drink and threw $5 into a slot machine $1/spin, on the very last spin three 7's come up... here I am shitting my pants like something is about to happen... nope. Not being a slot machine "player" I didn't even look on the bastard to see what bets paid out what combinations, had I put $2 on the last spin it would have paid out $150, but for $1, nothing.
Saturday was a bit different, I had that whole hyper sensitive thing going on so I jumped into a 2/5 NLHE. The first hour I pretty much won a few small pots but paying more attention to the players at the table. I turned a straight with JT and doubled up my $300 stack(I bought in for $250). There was a straddle to 10, I have 88 and call, two behind me call. The straddler struggles a bit then raised to 50, I ran over the possibilities then re-popped it to $200 and took it down.
I have 88 again on the very next hand in middle pos I min-raised to 10, few callers flop was 8-8-K. well obviously that went well. The only "bad beat" was that for the $50 bonus you need quad 10's or better. The fun ended when my fish died and were replaced by players from a broken up 5/10 table. Now If I had any kind of bankroll I wouldn't have cared that they were betting like they were still sitting at 5/10, being $30-50 preflop. But I didn't so I cut out like jack the ripper. I did manage to break even for the week, get a nickel back to a friend from the day before and settle a credit card debt*. but left me nearly broke.
Sunday was the PLO madness described in light detail here http://www.coinflip.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6289#p6289
* the only way I've found to beat the (credit) cards was to realize I don't care much for my credit rating, not pay for 6 months to a year and then settle the debt at around half or better after it's been charged off. This was the druggie, drunken, womanizing student working part time that didn't worry about 20% juice on the things he charged. I haven't charged anything in over two years and still feeling the effects. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
