What is the difference ... ?

After having a fair January at BetFred I go an "Offer I could not refuse" if I played on VC poker.

Same network - iPoker - so what could be the problem ??

First of all - MM3 did not work on VC Poker. And I need to downgrade if to make it work. I need to use some time on this.

Second - I always loose when switching to a new site. Even if in this case it is the same network and thereby the same players I will play against.

I just do not get it......

My stats are the same - I play the same way as I use to do.

I even check that I consider that they do not know me and maybe play me a little different.

Never the less - I lost in 3 days what I have earned in hole January.

Then it was time for a break !!

First hand in February - and I do really means first hand - I get allin on flop in a 3 ways pot holding A4 in BB on a 2 3 5 board with flush draw.

Both the others had the flush draw and still it came on the river  :(

I was "only" 60% in a 3 ways pot for 3 BI ..... That is a hand you just HAVE to win to make money on poker.

After that hand I needed to read my latest blog once again and remind that I do love variance .....

I then switched to HU (where I found one of my favorite contributers to my BR) just be beaten up even more - I did manage to break even in that session even though I lost AQs allin on 346 flop with flush draw against KJo and AQ vs 44 on a TQ3 flop ....  both for 100-150 BB each (giving 200-300 BB pots).

Once again it was time to stop playing some days and my thoughts were on the old saying "Stop digging when you are in the hole" !!

Mix start of the year

I must say that I have had a mixed start of 2010.

Both my winnings and my expected EV has been going up and down like a yoyo .....  Not the best thing - but it happens, and I accept this with a smile  :)

One of the things I have realized is that not all poker players accept and actually cheer for variance like I do.

Basically I do not thing most players up to NL400 has spend time thinking about the use of variance and what it bring to poker.

Yesterday one of my poker-friends called me and complaint (once again) over some bad beat and that he haded variance on poker. One of he frequents wish is that they will "invent" variance free poker. His point is that poker should stop when all players left in a hand is allin = no more play is left.

Then the money should be distributed based on once changes of winning.

This will completely remove variance.

And he is right !!

But he miss one important point !!!!

If every fish 9 out of 10 times comes in bad and every time only get the 5-25 % of the pot - the fish will very soon stop playing.

The fish is there because the can actually get lucky and book a nice win on one night - or a week.

So when they are broke (again) - they reload from there VISA and start playing again.

And this will stop if the fish wil never get lucky and beat our AA with JT ot 22 - or hit a runner runner str8 to beat our set ....

So I welcome variance in the game - and try to look at it as positive as I can.

I admit it ws hard at the start, but I do feel that I play better poker after having made this progress.

If a fish bad beat me I know he will play me again - and I can then earn my money back with interest.

Coinflip - here I come

Hey

Since I am a new user on Coinflip I like to write some about myself.

First of all a disclaimer:

English is not my native language, so please respect any mis-communication  :)

But besides this I love to play and talk about poker. And this has been the same the past 4 years I have played poker.

So you will (hopefully) see more to me in the forum - both starting posts and commenting on them.

My main game is NL HoldEm cashgame - shorthanded (5-6 max depending of the software), some times combined with some NL HU.

Limit is from $100 - $400 depending on my BR.

As goes for BR I am somewhat conservative which means 50 BI for any level if I am to play it as reg.

But I do take shorts at higher level when several conditions is fulfilled:

  • I have 10 BI for that new level - beside my 50 BI for current main level
  • There is value at the table - maybe a fish I know

These conditions is not always possible to fulfill since I frequently withdraw money from my online accounts to pay for vacations and my motorcycle. Combine this with poker as a hobby after my 8-16 work and my family and you will not always find all the time I like to use on poker :)

I hope to be able to update this blog from time to time - and hopefully someone will comment on it :)
