Today at 3pm CET I will be playing in the €1100 Main Event of the Croatian Poker Series in Split. The surroundings are amazing and Goalwin.com surely gets 3 thumps up for the event so far. The hotel room is nice and spacious.  I got an incredible sea view, with a private beach and huge yachts by the marina outside my balcony.

(check out pictures in the menu on the right hand side)

Yesterday I met an Austrian poker player by the beach. He overheard a conversation I had with a friend about the soft games and we got to talk. Later we grabbed dinner at a local restaurant nearby. It is amazing that you can get good meal + drinks for €10 with a pizza costing only €5! In Denmark you easily get charged €15 for a pizza with beers costing €8 so definitely good value here. Any online poker pro should consider moving here.

It was funny when I later asked him how he met his wife he said it was the first time he tried LSD... Ha ha! I found that hilarious and literally he has been 4 year long trip since with her. I never tried any hard drugs – maybe that is why I am still single? He he...

We went to the poker room after a few drinks to check out the action. There was no €2/€5 game going so I joined a €2.5/€2.5 for the time being. I picked up 88 in my first hand in the big blind. I looked up and could tell that 7 players had limped the straddle of €5 so there was €40 in the pot.  I made it €80 total to take the pot and build my image. Everyone folded besides the player on the button. He went allin for €190 total. He looked Swedish so I snapped called him!!

The board came K, T, T, 9, 5 rainbow. He mucked his hand without showing and left with his long blond “hockey frille” as they call it in Sweden. He never spoke a word but in my mind I won a small battle against our Swedish neighbours that took Småland, Halland & Blekinge back in 1658. A war that lasted for decades and brought much suffering to the Danes living in Skåne.  They were brutally tortured and killed for making resistance for not wanting to be Swedes... Anyways this is a long time ago and as much as I love Sweden, our brothers in Scandinavia, I love to tease them too!

After taking down the pot I went to the bathroom. Without getting too graphical I can assure you I wasn’t gone long but when I returned to the table everybody had left. The only sign that a poker game had been going on minutes earlier was my chip stack, my sunglasses and a pretty dealer. I asked if she had scared people away by telling stories about me? (with a smile on my face) She assured me that it wasn’t the case and got a bit offended. I guess my humour got lost in translation.

The manager told me a €5/€5 Omaha game was going which I joined instead. It didn’t take long before a donk busted two guys winning a €2000 pot. With the board Ah, 8h 6x they ended 3 way allin on flop. Turn and river was a Qx & 9x. The winner showed Tx, 7x and hit his double belly buster holding A, T, 7, 4 in his hand. Another played showed Ax & 8x so he flopped top two and the third person mucked. All 3 players stopped after this hand so we were down to 4 players. I decided to play a bit more to see what would happen. The first hand I played was J, J, 9, 8 double suited. I raised on the button to €20 and got two callers from the blinds. The board was magical: Jc, Th, 5d with two of my suites (diamond and hearts for back door flush draws). What more can you asked for?! There was plenty action on the flop and I ended pushing allin and got one caller. An Italian guy from small blind folded unhappily his check-raise to €130 leaving the pot at around €1300.

I put the other guy on KQ as there was no other hand that would make sense maybe TT if I were extremely lucky with the setup.  The Turn card was terrible: Ace of clubs. It would complete his nut-straight and hit a set if he overplayed Aces on the flop. River was a small club so I hoped I dodged the flush and he didn’t have AA or KQ. He waited a long time and then showed KQ (!) Fucking guy! Not only did he hit a 4 outer he also slow-rolled me... I left the table to play some Texas Holdem No limit with my Austrian poker buddy. I didn’t play more than 2 hours since I was tired after the day before only getting 4 hours of sleep since I had to get up and do some work. I lost €230 in total so I am still up overall.

Below in my comments I will send updates from Main Event via SMS

Wish me luck ladies and gentlemen!
