Yo, after hanging in Tunis for two nights we decided it would be cool to check out Dubai. I kinda got owned by the officer at the security check. Just after a long queue to get to passport control at Tunis airport there was the security check. I put all metal stuff as normal to go through the x-ray (?) as well as my wallet. On the other side some officer came and checked out my wallet, he took out all the Tunis money I had left there (I think worth around 400 euros) and told me it was not allowed to take the money with me, mostly with body language as his english was really bad. This sounded pretty weird so I tried to argue, then some other officer came and shook his head as well, he told me I have to go back to the other side to exchange it, which was impossible with the long passport queues because my flight was leaving soon. One kind traveller who spoke both english and the native language asked me if he could help by translating, he then talked a few quick words with those officers and quickly left after that which was a little weird. I tried to ask for a officer who could speak english but apparently it was not possible, it all just smelled kinda weird and I even tried a little bluff trying to act like I was about to leave back to the other side. I think all the doubt I had started working against him, in the end he took me a little bit further from all the people, put a few bills in one pile and the rest in another and mumbled something. I didn't hear and said sorry? Now I heard, "Coffee for me" I agreed, he took the 45 dinars (around 20 euros) and I made the flight. It was all just so weird when the hustle happened in the middle of daylight with all the other travellers, and several of the officers were in on it. I guess they expected me to just give up the money and continue without much thought.
Anyways been here for a few days now, the place is just amazing, you can't really describe it, it's just something you have to see. Today we checked out Burj Khalifa, the worlds tallest building, 820 metres or something I think. I've also only played poker one evening here where I managed to luckbox around 25k euros winning some flips at 25/50 which helps, as this trip is starting to get pretty expensive, like after Dubai I think I've spent around 10k euros on hotel rooms and flights alone. We are staying here until WPT Paris, and for the last night I reserved a suite at Burj Al Arab, I remember watching a documentary about it years ago, how they built the island for it first etc, and dreamed about getting to experience a night there, so def gonna enjoy it for the full 1.5k euro :D.
Don't have HEM on my laptop so can't really post hands, but had one really crazy one at 50/100 where from a limped pot on a turned 3-flush I somehow managed to get my entire stack 100bb stack in by the river with just the bare ace, and somehow even make my opponent fold. He bet on the turn, I reraised the pot, he reraised the pot and I called (I did have a gutshot as well ;) ), he then checked the river and I went all-in.
The weather has been great on this trip so far, lets hope it keeps this way and perhaps I can catch a little tan. GL at the tables!
