Ending blog

I'd like to make a short announcement, I will quit blogging here at coinflip and continue towards new challenges. The last bit over 2 years I've been blogging here have been great, I've evolved much as a poker player and wish coinflip all the best but feel like it is time for me to move on. Thanks to all of you who have been commenting my blog or just reading it!

Fk tournaments

Yo whats up. Like the next day after writing my last blog entry I came down 110k at 300/600 and almost the same in EV through a couple of coolers:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6120449 nothing to do here with 50bb

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6120450 would play it the same way again

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6120451 here is one that I'd obv be super happy getting in on the flop, but I'm a bit dissappointed I didn't even consider anything else than shoving the turn. With the stacksizes as they are I might be up against a monster very often as pretty much any hand he 3bet that missed the flop should shove anyway with less than a pot behind

So after this I managed to dump 45k euros to live tournaments in madrid, losing the flips etc, considering the weak dollar this is like equal to losing 130k or so on fulltilt, so I was down almost a quarter of a million on those $. I couldn't play too much online on the trip as the first hotel I was staying in for 7 days had a very unstable internet. Won a bit at the end of the trip online. Now I've just been grinding a ton and won slightly more than what I lost at that one short session of 300/600. Also lost 11.1k to the scoop main events. Busted out nicely with AA vs KK AI preflop in the 10k one.

On a more positive note the summer is soon here, I'm gonna try to grind a little less and just enjoy it. Leaving for Vegas the 24th for the 10k PLO tournament and staying until I bust out of the main event. Oh and congrats to luzak for taking down the SCOOP main event! Maybe now we don't have to hear anymore of the "I'm the unluckiest player in the world" moans ;)

April - the month of my career

Being really happy with my last month I really don't know how to describe the feelings of this, ten times better, month. For the last few weeks I've just felt completely in the zone everytime I've played, making some really deep bluffs, herocalls, stabs in right spots, valuebets getting paid off etc etcc and most importantly just running good in general, both EV-wise and in setups. When running good it's just so easy to completely forget the variance and credit it all on outplaying your opposition. In fact that's how I've felt all month, when I really know how opposite of this it can be as it was for me in the beginning of the month when it feels like all you keep doing is minimizing your losses, grinding it up a little only to have a few big setups but you back in the red for the session. Before my huge run at the nosebleeds I actually had a very nice upswing at 25/50 of around 300k in less than 2 weeks. In fact over 400k of this months profits are 25/50 and lower. Oh and don't pay attention to the usd/hr stat, The hours played seems to get messed up with different clients using different time zones (ex playing a table of fulltilt and ipoker will result in HEM recording it as two sessions playing at different times resulting in double hours played). If someone knows a way to fix this please let me know here in comments or by pm.

I'll put some successful hands from the 1million session as i know at least a few have requested. Don't think I can comment too much on them this time as I think I'll keep playing if certain lineups run.

March

holy shit 76k hands in a month. I finally started hitting some stuff and getting paid off! Motivated by this new confidence I put in even more hands and very happy with the results. A big part of the winnings came from pokerstars where i've now managed to turn around my run, a fun pot from 25/50:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6055020 villain was very laggy, probably a recreational player. I get almost all the money in on the turn as a 97% favorite for a nice 800bb pot.

Decided to keep this entry a little shorter. I'm now up 245k(275 ev) over 150k hands this year which is really nice considering how bad the year started out, and even better 150 of that is from taxfree european sites. Leaving for EPT Berlin on tuesday, finally gotten over the livetourney beating i took in paris. This trip will be very quick tho, just the main event and then back to Finland.

Good luck at the tables, some justin bieber never hurts!

2011 grinds.. part 2

This year is starting to look better! After my last blog entry I started running better and had a few very fortunate sessions on Ipoker, some 50/100 was running and later a little bit of 100/200. I felt I had a descent edge in the ringgame and decided to play. They probably hate me now:

My this years Ipoker graph :) Even managed to win a 45k pot where I get it in pretty well as a 49% favorite 3way: http://www.pokerhand.org/?6002229

After these sessions my this years results overall were finally in the green, the winnings also went past the EV line for just a while which was nice but didn't stay there for long.

This is how my 2011 graph looks now. Up just under 80k total, and even my Fulltilt+Pokerstars are only down 20k. Hopefully I can win some more there too so I can deduct my entire trip to Vegas this summer from taxes.

I'm very happy with the motivation to grind I've had so far and hopefully can keep on putting in hands and keep on winning! Gl at the tables!

This years grinds and Paris

It's been a while since my last blog. From being 110k up at best to being down 50k.. After my results got to the negative side I decided to keep grinding and blog after I'm up again, unfortunately this didn't happen and suddenly I was leaving for Paris WPT.

At the start I thought I was finally going to start running above EV. I'm still very disappointed in my EV results so far, but I do feel I've been running bad cooler-wise aswell. Also alot of these hands I played felt "forced" while I was doing something doing something else/trying out Civilization 5, and even made a couple of pretty expensive missclicks.. Have to start taking this more seriously once again.

All in all it's not that bad. I'm around 100k down on Fulltilt/Stars and up 50 on taxfree sites so if I expect to be up on US-sites by the end of the year I'm even for the year in a way. In big blinds the results aren't that bad either, almost 10bb/100 hands. For example I'm up 20k on 3/6€ over 8k hands.

2011 here I come!

Yo, been some time since my last blog. I had a great time at Bali and managed to keep away from poker for the entire trip! 11 days which I think was the longest break from poker I've had in at least 3 years and probably did good for my game. I'm happy with the way things have started this year, I've decided to focus more on live tournaments and already watched some MTT videos and thought more about stuff and how it really differs from cash games with weaker opposition in general, shorter stacks and antes, imo there can be way bigger winrate differences with sick good and normal regs in MTTs compared to cash games. MTT more about exploiting the weak players to the max instead of levelling and outplaying tough regs in cash games (highstakes that is, when you are lucky to have 1 weak player at a table). Last week was the first test, the Helsinki Freezeout where I played a 2000€ PLO event and 3000€ ME. I was fairly close to the FT in the main event, busted out flipping with 66 against AK in a standard resteal spot. I reached the final table of the 6max PLO event but managed to bust first where I got almost a 1/3rd of my stack in pre with AAKQds but got outflopped. Unfortunately because of sidebets I actually was down after the tournament.

Someone asked me about my last years winrates on different sites and checked my 25/50 PLO results on fulltilt which surprised me a bit so gotta put a brag ss here

A Cool Million

Including rakeback I reached the cool million! My friend did manage to save my old HEM database after quite some work, and I got the new hands imported aswell. Have to keep the EV line showing, otherwise it wouldnt be as pretty. Playing almost 200k breakeven hands ftw.. Just shows how much variance there is in the game. Altho it's not quite that much as the early alltime high was kind of fake because of the really big 100/200-200/400 pots and it easily fluctuated 200k in a session. Sucks to think that I was just as likely to win over 1.5mil had the variance gone the other way. It's still just a bit of a dissappointent as at one point of the year it was looking extremly good, and even though I tried not to hope for too much I was fairly sure I was gonna go 1.5m+ if not 2m. All in all I'm happy with the results, my initial goal was to hit 500k online after taxes, so i cant complain. Just a bit over half of this years winnings are fulltilt/stars so in reality I won around 700, a little more. Then when converting that to euro, minus all the live tournaments and a little online (I won the party highroller early this year for like 24k euro, took a third in the prima sunday for like 5k euro?, so not completely sure if I'm down in tournaments online, but might be as I played some of the big ones on stars and fulltilt) it's nowhere near 1million anymore :).

The biggest pots growed quite alot since last year,

I'm on a boat! not...

So had planned a happy blog entry, just needed a few more winning days... was going to go into detail on some exciting sessions etc, but yesterday just took everything out of me. The last few week I've been crushing badly, had a few very aggro HU games against some good players where I took like 50k at 10/20 in a very short time. Grinded 3/6€ and 5/10$ on the side but I'm starting to think it's not that smart as I'm not really focused there, espcially if I've got bigger games going on aswell.

My new strategy of never folding the river seems to work:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5836558

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5836560

no to be honest there was a ton into both of these hands but too lazy right now to go into detail

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5836561 getting paid off nicely

The grinds continue

Been feeling really good about my game, but there hasnt been too much action, I've multitabled as low as 5/10$ and some 3/6€ which is basically as big. Bad run continues but I've been killing it ev-wise so still made some profit. One funny 20k pot on partypoker against a fish where I get it in as a 83% favorite in a 1000bb pot on the turn: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5822309

I thought about just shipping it in on the flop which is probably fine but I've got position and so much behind a call is better imo. Basically just horribly played by villain, the 4bet with that crappy aces 500bb deep oop is just awful, and the turn pot/call I've got no idea what he was thinking. It's weird how getting sucked out on in this 20k pot hurts so much more at 10/20 than a similar sized pot at for example 50/100.

Todays session was looking bad aswell until probably the sickest plo player, probsteder joined my hu table. I've got mixed feelings against this guy, at first I thought he was a complete fish, but ended up losing like 70 or 80k in a really short amount of time. That was at first 25/50 and then 50/100 so it's really not that much in big blinds considering the variance from playing a guy with his style. Basically i've got a big sample of him 3betting over 50% of hands in the bb, and just really aggressive. But after our sessions he has been playing 100/200 and a little as high as 200/400 hu against some of the best on ipoker... I had no idea what kind of bluffs he was capable of until this session. Oh and the session was like 20 hands long.
