Nosebleeds and swings

Warning: I just realized this became pretty long lol.. gl reading it all

I'm just really frustrated and tired of the swings I've had at really highstakes lately. Yesterdays session could've ended +300k easily with just a few different cards but instead I lost 100k. Now what was looking to be a great month is back to breakeven and this years nosbleed results -120k. I don't think I'm mentally strong enough for the swings, and my bankroll either, so I should probably try to stay away even if there is a weaker player there for now. Perhaps a few minimum buyin shots is ok, but not like I did now when I got position on the fish to just buyin full 200bb, 40k. I'm gonna go through some hands of yesterdays session where i played many of my careers biggest pots and re-live the pain. It ended up lasting like 18 hours, The session started out pretty bad with a few very unlucky hands.

Busto

Been travelling for a couple of weeks, in Spain, Marbella with my gf visiting a friend who has started a bar there, and in Miami with my family. Can't remember when I have played as little poker as I did during the trips, and trying to get back to the grind now. I played some more 100/200 and 200/400 CAP PLO on fulltilt a few days before the trip, and here and there during it. Have really had a rough run there, EV-wise and I think cooler-wise aswell. The variance in PLO can just be so sick, probably shouldn't play that big, but it's not easy staying away when the same fish you are after at a 25/50 game decides to jump into the nosebleed game. I'm very happy with my table selection for those stakes, don't think I've played a single full orbit after the player I consider alot weaker has left, which most of you know can occaisonally be REALLY tough if you are down and you have to go down to grind 10x times smaller games after that. Many people don't wanna take shots to that big games at all I can sort of understand that decision, but if we look rationally at things, I'm still young and will prolly be able to grind for many years to come, it is not that terrible if I lose a big part of my bankroll. If I see a game I consider myself to have a descent edge in, it would actully be a bad career decision not to take a shot, aslong as I save enough of money to grind the lower stakes if it doesn't go well. I'm telling you, once I get the Jeans-run going at nosebleeds I'm gonna have the sickest year! Like Loco times 3. Thankfully I'm up so much from 25/50 and lower stakes I'm still comfortably up this year, and the positive side it's fulltilt dollars so less taxes to pay :)

More grinding and Miami

Very little has happened poker-wise since last update, the grinds have ended up around breakeven, slightly positive expected valuewise. I've also played some really tough HU opposition a bit like cole south, jungleman, tibster, tycon87. My PLO HU game is definitely behind my 6max one, it's good to play against very good players every once in a while to learn, but prolly gonna try to game-select a bit better now for a while. I'm leaving for Miami this saturday with my family, looking to learn to surf and have a short break from poker!

Also been looking on cars a bit lately, but haven't really decided about anything yet, I've always dreamt about some kind of smooth cabriolet, and the summer will shortly be over in finland so perhaps it'd be smarter to buy one next Spring. The tax on cars is just ridiculously high in Finland, like 50%+? more to the price. Carrera 4s would prolly be my choice if I had to decide right now, but just looked at some under 20 000km driven Aston Martins and the price wasnt that bad. From what I heard ferraris can't even be driven in finland, unless you wanna hear shit in the traffic every day, finnish people are very jealous... I'll keep you updated if there is any progress :)

First of all the best hand in a while against Ville "nuts" Haavisto

I call the turn knowing I'm drawing to 1 out but have great implied slowrolling odds, on the river I time down to 1 second http://www.pokerhand.org/?5572971

Some big hands from grinds

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5572757 my nut straight + set is a nice 48% underdog, we run it twice and I lose, nice 900bb pot going the wrong way

Grinds

I haven't had much to write about, basically just enjoying the summer and trying to grind at the side. Results have been fairly breakeven, even tho I've won a ton of sklansky bucks, I guess I deserve it now that I've had such a good run the last 2 months. It's hard to stay away from grinding, the value just seems ridiculous at all sites even at the highest stakes of pot-limit omaha. You never know how long it's gonna last. Would have been nice to play some of the PLO events and the main event at the WSOP, but maybe there is a reason I'm a few weeks to young :) Turning 21 in a week. Perhaps make a big shot at WSOP next year, if I've learned some limit games by then. Took another shot at 100/200a a couple of days ago. I've got some good reads that Ilari"the movie investor" Sahamies was heavily drunk making some very questionable plays. I lost 35k(ev -22k), but I definitely felt a strong edge and managed to make some thin correct 4bets but the flops just were not good for me.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5546537 fairly thin 4bet but essential taking into account the game flow, I get most of it in 60/40.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5546540 if I could only learn to flop trips in 4bet pots as well as ziggy

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5546542

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5546543 I think I have to shove, I'm a bit behind rumprammers range but with the money already invested and a loose coldcall i can't really fold, and when pushing rumprammer will often isolate, if not preflop one of them postflop. Seeing ziggys hand it must have been some serious vodka

I did manage win a few pots

http://www.pokerhand.org/?5546545 finally a thin 4bet working out

Godrun

The last 2 months have been ridiculous, so called Jeans-run at its best. I just close my eyes, stick in the money and always win. It's slowly affecting me, and for a few sessions now I feel like I haven't played my A-game, the run continues but I end up loser in EV, which really is what matters. I've played mostly on fulltilt during this time, or atleast had my good run there, which is sort of unfortunate for me, but nice for the finnish tax administration. Here is my graph for the last 6 weeks, which have been my careers best ones online. The start of the year was very bad for me, as many of you probably remember who pointed out i should stop whining, well I'm not whining anymore, my winnings have caught up with the EV on ETA sites, and apparently I've run 200k over EV on fulltilt for the entire year(I can't be sure exactly, my HEM shows a little different things in the sessions tab and the results tab, anyone have the same problem? I've checked all my filters should be off).

A few days ago I took a shot to 100/200a PLO on fulltilt. It's hard to realize how big this game plays, your results can easily deviate a million from your true EV, which is not something I'm looking for, but this fishosaurusREX was just spewing away 10k stacks. I'm not entirely happy the way I played, but do think I ran into some coolerish situations with me on the worse side. Luckily I ran really good, my EV ended up being -17k while my results were +55k.

Helsinki Midnight Sun

I busted out during the 4th level in the unibet open bulgaria tournament. Unibet must be really happy with their sponsorship choice, 3 unibet opens and never past the 6th level...  Anyways the trip was really nice otherwise with great weather and some great people! I arrived back in Finland on sunday and unfortunately went to play the 1k half half (NL/PLO) yesterday. I think I played really well in that one but the pokergods were not on my side. Actually the last pot I lost to mr. ziggy after he had a complete blackout and almost tried to dump the chips to me, but then gave me the bad beat.

Off to Bulgaria

Just a quick update. Haven't been playing that much poker, and the results have been fairly breakeven, perhaps a small win. There has been some great parties tho and had some good times. I'll be off to unibet open bulgaria today, hopefully it will be sunny, probably gonna chill a lot by the pool. Also my cellphone broke, does anyone know exactly when the new Iphone will be released, and also when it will come to Europe? Thanks

Good luck at the tables!

Jeans-run!!

Seems like i finally found the Jeans-run, have been playing a lot on fulltilt with great results. Didn't wanna jinx it by posting the positive news update too soon, I've been playing retardedly much aswell for the last 2 weeks, but the last sessions it seems like the run slowed down so was a good time to update the blog, superstitious ftw. This is my fulltilt graph solid +250k in less than 10k hands, sickest thing being pretty much all hands are 25/50 or lower. One night I was just in the zone the entire time, ended up having like 110k stack on one table and 40k on another one at 25/50 PLO, some of the sickest plo hands I ever played went down there, here is one for example http://www.pokerhand.org/?5457675 heh, I was giving up on the river but the donk came i just felt like I have to shove :). Kinda sucks to run so good there instead of other sites as half of it goes to taxes, but I take it.

Some random big pots:

One quick shot to 200/400 cap, busting the weaker player and then quickly out :D

Haven't played that much one euro sites but small wins from there aswell. Because of some changes in my personal life it seems as I'm going to the next unibet open bulgaria after all. Gonna be really cool, some sun, chilling and poker. Then the finnish Midnight Sun, whichafter don't have any live tourneys for some time.

GL at the tables!

Home sweet home

What a great feeling to come home after almost a month of travelling. Surely the highpoint of the trip was the one night stay at Burj Al Arab, really shows you how much 1500 euros is worth. The suite was 2 storeys, 180 m2, jacuzzi, laptop, the sickest view, own butler, best possible service. We flew through Paris where I quickly busted out of the WPT mostly getting coolered in ton of pots and always managing to lose the minimum but anyways managed to make some time to go to the top of the effel tower. Havent been in it before so it was pretty cool.

Just uploaded the hands from the laptop to my HEM database. I won nicely on the trip online and did feel like I ran good, but seems like I ran like Bolt as ziig would say, also had a good session after coming home. Pretty sick to grind running bad for 4 months and then basically the EV evens out during a 4k hand stretch, won 100k as u see from the graph, solid 25$ per hand. On Fulltilt ran really good today aswell, won like 30k running 22k over EV, so almost caught up with the variance now, tho I can feel the downswing coming.

Too bad I've been dumping so much to live tournaments, otherwise would be up very nicely atm, but I guess the EV there has to even out after Copenhagen aswell... Really looking forward to the summer here in Finland, just gonna be drinking and grinding and trying to enjoy the weather. There aren't any live tournaments to play as I'm too young for vegas yet, actually one day too young for WSOP main event day1d, but it might just be positive, I've had it for now with live donkaments. Except I'll play the Midnight Sun here in Helsinki, probably the 200€ rebuy PLO, 1k€ half/half and 3k€ main event. But more from the entertainment point of view than EV.

Greetings from Dubai

Yo, after hanging in Tunis for two nights we decided it would be cool to check out Dubai. I kinda got owned by the officer at the security check. Just after a long queue to get to passport control at Tunis airport there was the security check. I put all metal stuff as normal to go through the x-ray (?) as well as my wallet. On the other side some officer came and checked out my wallet, he took out all the Tunis money I had left there (I think worth around 400 euros) and told me it was not allowed to take the money with me, mostly with body language as his english was really bad. This sounded pretty weird so I tried to argue, then some other officer came and shook his head as well, he told me I have to go back to the other side to exchange it, which was impossible with the long passport queues because my flight was leaving soon. One kind traveller who spoke both english and the native language asked me if he could help by translating, he then talked a few quick words with those officers and quickly left after that which was a little weird. I tried to ask for a officer who could speak english but apparently it was not possible, it all just smelled kinda weird and I even tried a little bluff trying to act like I was about to leave back to the other side. I think all the doubt I had started working against him, in the end he took me a little bit further from all the people, put a few bills in one pile and the rest in another and mumbled something. I didn't hear and said sorry? Now I heard, "Coffee for me" I agreed, he took the 45 dinars (around 20 euros) and I made the flight. It was all just so weird when the hustle happened in the middle of daylight with all the other travellers, and several of the officers were in on it.
