Swings and New Car

This month has been pretty swingy.  It's always frustrating for anyone to lose especially at the highest stakes you play.  But I think I've done a good job of keeping my composure and not letting the losses effect my play.  I've battled back and I'm almost even for the month.  Last month I felt like a King making 58k at 50-100 and this month I'm down about 45k at 50-100.  6 buyins and 4.5 buying is really not that swingy in terms of buyins so I just need to keep that in mind.

The college basketball tournament has been absurd.  I can't believe Butler made the final four again and joining them is another mid-major in VCU.  I'm a Syracuse fan so it's always rough not making the second weekend of March Madness.  I was still excited tho because before Ohio St's game in the Sweet 16 I had a chance of making a large score.  I entered a 1k bracket and it ended up getting 78 people.  1st place was 53k.  I needed Kansas to beat Ohio St. in the finals.  They were the two best teams left and I was getting pumped up.  Then Ohio St. loses to Kentucky on Friday night and my dreams were crushed!

I've been checking out the BMW hard top convertables and I came across this blog.

Awesome start for 2011

2011 has been awesome so far for poker. I'm on a pretty nice heater. Here are some funny hands where people just give me money.

Not much to say about this hand, certainly a late xmas gift.

I was absolutely shocked to see this guy call if off with A9. These first two hands with A9 happened within 10 minutes too.

In this hand I actually tanked for a few seconds on the river because I overbet the pot slightly and you almost never see people bluff overbets but at the end of the day I have a set and who folds those?

Another Xmas gift.

Here is my graph for 2011 so far. http://img8.imageshack.us/i/2011throughjan7.jpg/

This weekend I'm flying back to Kansas City for the Chiefs game. The three years I was in Kansas City the Chiefs were a combined 10-38 and this year they go 10-6 and make the playoffs. My first year in Charlotte the Panthers go 2-14. Go figure.

The History

Hi my name is Evan Panesis, I go by the poker alias "MacDaddy34" and I'm very excited to start blogging on coinflip.com.

Since this is my first blog I'm going to tell you how I got started with poker.  About 7 years to this date I was playing .25-.50 cent in my college dorm room with a $1000 bankroll on pokerroom.com.  I got extremely lucky running up my $50 deposit.  I had very little poker experience as I started playing that summer with high school friends and then weekly $5 tournys at college.  I won a few of those tournys and started to really develop a passion for the game.  I grinded play money online and watched wsop episode reruns of Robert Varkonyi and Chris Moneymaker crushing the fields.  I then decided to take poker seriously and read a book!  My sister bought me the book as a gift and it was called "Play Poker Like the Pros" by Phil Hellmuth.

"Perfect, I just read this book and I'm gonna be as good as Phil. He's on TV so he has to be the best."

Those were my thoughts during that time, I was such a fish!  I loved the book and it actually did help me a lot even though it was a limit-hold em book and I played no-limit.  Wait, what the hell was I thinking???  I read a book on limit hold-em and then applied those concepts to no-limit hold em and I somehow won?  Either I was a poker genius back then or everyone else was god awful.  Lets pick the latter on this one, remember it was 2003 right after the Moneymaker Boom.
