Yesterday I went to Hong Kong Poker House again. I was dissappointed when I noticed that we couldn't get omaha going. So I sat down to 25/50 NL table with 8 other players.
Normally when I play in HKPH the atmosphere is nice and everyone is having fun in the tables. This time it was totally different. These boring nits were check-calling all night long and when you're card dead it's impossible to do anything. I ended up winning as I eventually picked up a couple hands and got paid off which was expected in this table.
Even though I won, it was the most boring night with poker I've had in a long long time. In my opinion half of live poker is that you're having fun. There's no point playing live as the action is so slow if it isn't fun. I think I should take this idea to playing online as well. I'm much more patient when having fun and in general making better decisions than if I was bored and frustrated. So from this point on I'll try not to play when I'm not having fun. Probably it's not going to happen but it's worth trying, right?
There was a one special incident yesterday which made me feel sick. It was as bad mistake as getting 100bb in pf with deuces. There was one superdonk in the table who donated about 20k to hkph foundation. He open raised pf to 300 and got 3 callers. He was kind enough to show his hand to me and one regular and it was JJ. Flop came T93 rainbow and he lead out his whole stack (around 12k) to a pot of 1200. This is a beautiful thing that doesn't happen too often. I don't think I have to explain what went wrong in his game, but after the hand two stupid nits started telling him that he had played wrong. Saying this is like burning money. You should never give free tips on table! Same goes with online games. Why would you after a badbeat educate the donkey who stacked you? Just swallow your anger, say nothing, make notes and stack the guy later. Anyway when these morons started talking about the hand I tried to silence them and this other regular saved the situation by telling the guy that this was a good play and he got the pot with no risk – I obviously agreed. Because of us he probably didn't learn anything and is important player later on.
All in all, the night was boring and not good for my mental health. No more fullring live NL for me. I can't understand how someone is able to play these games for their living? Including live tournament players. That's just a sick way to make your living.
