i just finished 2 final exams yesterday. 2 more to go! i will be done next monday, so right now im in the library studying.

you know ppl say that if u can look back in ur life and tell the important or life changing moments and events from 10 yrs ago, you would be very lucky. well, u'd be even more lucky if u know at the moment when it happened. i had my moment last week, we my teaching assistant let me make up for all the missed labs in computer science and still gave me full marks. why is that important? because im a 3rd yr student majoring in comp sci and i've failed the introductory course once already due to missing too many labs. well...i did it again this yr. instead of going to 2 hr labs, i decided to grind the turbo sngs! young and dumb eh? so why is this so important? because i know that not knowing what i wanna do in life, having a particular set of skills is really important. and computer science is such a skill set that i must have if i were to achieve great things in life. some ppl may disagree, but i think that having computation skills is a must for my generation. so if i failed this course again, i know that my pride/ego wont let me take the coruse for the 3rd time and the university prolly wont either! so passing is crucial! 2 more days till exam day, i must pass the final to pass the course. do i have confidence? not right now, but i will on friday =) and my confidence will come from the intense hrs that i put in studying these 2 days!

as for poker, this is a break through yr for me. before september, i have been playing for real money for abt a yr and i ran really well to break even. i was ur typical loose passive fish in the micro limits with serious fancy play syndrome. but i was able to build my roll from 300 to 1500 playing $11 turbo sngs. i started playing .1/.25 6 max cash games seriously the last couple weeks and im up about 200. i certainly ran well, winning $50 pots with QQ vs AK a couple times. but i felt like i know what im doing and why im doing what im doing a lot of times, as opposed to before, when i just fancy played for the sake of impressing my opponents. i was able to do that because i watched a lot of the bluefire and cardrunner sample vids and i also read a lot of hand analysis articles by omgclayaiken who is def my favourite player to watch. also taylor caby is great to watch for nl holdem hu. i think i also improved my emotional control. i read the poker mindset and i plan to read elements of poker in the break.

i think that my biggest leak right now at the level i play is i still play too loose preflop, and i have somewhat a fancy play syndrome. i know the 80.20 rule and i know if i can just fix one problem, my results will improve alot (not guaranteed money tho, because its poker anything can happen).

so my goal for the break is,

1) hang out w/ high school friends who r coming back

2) finish reading the poker minset

3) read how to win friends and influence people

4) go over the hands that i saved and analyze diff situations

5) read holdem poker for advanced players because some ideas from limit can also be used in nl

6) play lots of poker when im free to do so

7) not be too critical of others, and not being the know-it-all kinda person

until next time,
