Micro SnG adventure 2 - Why bonus+RB makes me smile

The past few weeks have been annoying to say the least!

No matter have hard I've tried I just havn't been able to beat anything - which have also had an impact on my most righteous quest to grind the micro SnG's. I succede in getting my BR from 190 down to 130, just playing 2,25 sng's. It was great fun! but what made it even better was that I couldn't do better than break even after that, even those sessions where I know i played my A-game.
Needless to say I started to get just a tiny bit annoyed, but then i actually clicked on the "cashier" tab and -VOILA- my account held nothing less than 192USD. it turns out I played 40 bucks free on my "sign-up" bonus plus I got some RB through Coinflip both of which (ofcourse) didn't show up on pokerprolabs (which is where I check my ROI and such)

anyways.. I am now at aprox. 300 games and thanks to bonus+Rb at 210usd. I would have prefered to have "earned" all of it but I guess I cant really afford to be picky :-) Doubled up my deposit - yay for me.

I have had a few noticeable (in a rare kind of way) hands during these weeks. Among them 2x straight flush - one of them flopped.

Also had one hand at a very tight table where I decided to open my QJ from MP. I get 3 callers and the flop comes AK10 rainbow. I ofcourse smell money since AK was very much in their calling range and start figuring out how to extract max. I end up making a small bet, which is raised and then reraised which is called all round. On the turn I shove and once again everyone calls. It turns out we are 4 people in the hand with QJ - can someone give me the odds on that happening?

Micro SnG adventure 1

Pretty quick for an update, I konw! But since I started a while ago I thought it would be nice to show my progress so far so here goes!

Except for a single 5$ and a 6$ game (at the very start - something like game 8 and 11)  I have managed to stick to 2$ games. When I have wanted to try out something new in my game I have done so in the 1$ games - While this those nothing for my avg ROI it still keeps my BR up even if I end up doing something stupid.
With that said the focus on ROI did wonders during my first streak of beats. I managed to keep from doing anything stupid and I am now back up to a 15%ROI which is aproximately where I think I should be at this point - I know its kind of flimsy looking at ROI with such a small sample size (163 games at this point) but it is something that keeps my mind away from the dollars.

I am currently playing 4 tables which is working out pretty good. I am also trying to earn some FT academy points for free MTT tickets. Among other things one of the tasks for the FTA was to play 4 HU SnG's - which ended up being a bit stressful when I also played those at the same time. I did however cash 3 of them so it ended out allright.

I haven't yet decided what I'm gonna do with the regular FT points but I am of course looking to extract maximum value from them, so any ideas how to do this would be much appreciated (mind you I'm never gonna have a large amount of them due to my low game volume).

Anyways... currently at 180 and still going strong!

Micro SnG adventure

The plot!

So there I was - rejected for the Coinflip Academy and frustrated that my cashgame was probably not gonna get better anytime soon. Since joining the CF community I had been trying to transfer my SnG game over to ring games, without luck. Now its not like I am a great SnG player, not even at the stakes that I play, but I'm not a terrible one either! However I have had a terrible time trying to adjust my game to cash. It seems that I just can't give up my need for fast paced poker (read; bubbleplay) and my Bankroll discipline just cannot handle easy opportunities to rise in stakes after taking a few beats. The BRM problem is also one I suffer with, while playing SnG's

So I decided to address these two problems. My need for bubbleplay was easy to solve - Keep playing SnG's! My BRM problem is a bit harder to address - but that is where this blog comes into the game (among other things). I have noticed that a major factor in my BR nuking tilts was the feeling that I needed to make back a specific number of $ - "If I could just win back those 20$ I could go to bed happy".
Another thing is that I tend to overrate myself at the end of a good session, which have lead me to take BR crippling shots at higher stakes. I just can't seem to get into my head that even though I have just won 10 BI's at 2.25 its a bad idea to loose 10 BI's playing 50/50 5.55/10.15...

To make a long story short, I decided to make a user at FullTilt and play micro SnG's under a strict set of rules designed to help me keep my BR even though I go through breakeven/loosing streaks.

The rules!
