(NL50 HU Deep) Overplaying TP?

Postby LoveisHell » 08.02.2010, 20:54

Villain is playing 50/50 OTB and 80/14 OOP. He bough in for 200bb. He seems solid, but he's playing way too loose OOP.
He's very passive (AF 1.0 over 46 hands), but hero has been very active.

PF: I think this is a decent 3bet because of the draw value. Not shooting for high pair really

Flop: Villain RR me, but I think his range is wide, because of the board. I'm not sure is he ever pure bluffing here.

Turn: Villain shoves. In retropsect I think I should be folding here, since he's not really shoving combodraws there IMO.

In his eyes you have air on the flop almost all the time, and hes gotta 2 barrel you sometimes right. If hes solid probably has heard about balancing so. He could have something like 65s and minraised flop because he wanted to see where he at.
Try thinking like this. What does he bet for value on the turn (AJ, QJ, JT, and flopped sets of 3, or 5`s), so go use your hand history and try to determine his 3-bet calling range and you will see that he has more bluffing hands than those he can value bet. So in the long run you will probably make more money calling him down than folding in this spot.

Pretty sure youre not overplaying at all. If hes got you beat you cant really do much, if you only have 46 hands on him. And if you start folding hands that are that strong you are probably in danger of getting run over constantly.

His passiveness makes it look like he just made a hand and is betting for value. His betsize on the turn on the other hand screams for a draw. Did he bet really quick? That's usually an indicator that he might be on a draw.

Would be nice where to know he/she were from? Helps such a lot when we are talking about timing tells.

Anyways

after that flop action, instant ~pot bet on the turn is usually a spot where our opponent doesn't have to think the best bet-sizing for a value. From a semi-ok/bad player, we ~never see this kind of bet on the turn with 5x, QQ,AJ, his range polarises(? dunno how to spell it) here mostly for random draws ( 64 etc obv) and bluffs. If the opponent isnt good and so on can't give fake timing tells he would think at least like few secs how to bet there with a good hand. I can't really see any value hand playing like that from that kind of a player, he doesn't leave any room with that bet-sizing and it basicly tells that he want's to win the pot right now.

If the player were really good the situation would be all different.

Eh, it's so hard to analyze HU-hands even thought I'm hu player. Flow, dynamic etc wich are impossible to know if you dont play the hand by yourselves are so important.

I would be amazed if the opponent turns out like 56 or 5x here.

We're at the top of our range. Wouldn't fold. If you have been active and he is obviously a fish (stats), he can show up here with anything. Don't think too much ranges here, just call.

How can you ever think of folding here in this situation?? this is never a fold IMO. I think he is bluffing here a lot and even sometimes that he doesnt bluff you actually beat a few hands he could play this way, like QJ for example
