**2011 Coinflip*

Postby neon_2wans » 29.12.2010, 22:43

so.... 2010 seemed to be a whirlwind around here at www.coinflip.com.
some ups and downs in the mix as well... but maybe that just goes along with the poker swings?

now suddenly, 2011 is just around the corner, and I thought maybe we could have a forum discussion about WTF goes on around here...and/or.....what's the master plan?, if any... etc. etc.

as of late, I have yet to learn of any new "CEO/el presidente" emerging on the scene...
& so it seems to me that, "we the patients at this asylum ...will be in charge of our further treatment schedule."
(at least for the time being, and/or until new management decides to do some shifting around of their own.)

& with that in mind:

**What would you like Coinflip to reflect going forward? What's the collective vision??

**Would we like to keep things compartmentalized??
(i.e. poker strategy sections, social activities, and personal viewpoints)

**Should we focus more on a single of these areas of interest??
(i.e. think of this as a poker "social networking" site? or a strategy zone? maybe the bonus-wh0ring place to be?)

**Should there be some sorta standardization of cultural codes??
(i.e. how should we represent ourselves? how should we handle our arguments? how should we greet new members? etc.)

**What did you really like in 2010? What did you find less than stellar? What would you of changed? Kept the same?

**What would you like to experience, and engage in, at www.coinflip.com throughout 2011?

At any rate...
I :h: this website for some silly reason, and I'd like it to be the best it can be....for all of us.
Please help make www.coinflip.com as Awesome as its potential!" ]:)

Ya know I have been thinking about this the past month and really came up with 1 thing, theres only 10 people that are regulars from day to day. Poker stragety? I mean how many times can you talk about "can you fold this hand on the river" "is 20 buyins enough for nl100?" People just get sick of it, regulars dont want to talk about it. People like to get on the forums because of poker gossip! They want to know whats going on out there in the poker world. Who is up, who went bust, they want to know how about the pros prop bets.
The only VIP pros that do this consistantly on a reg basis is team double edge. They are stand up guys willing to share knowledge and are happy to do so. The only other one I have seen is Jeans, who writes great blogs with hand breakdowns and hand histories. He is also the only one that has ever replied to a remark on his blog.
People dont come to the site for rake back, they dont come to the site post on the forums. They come to the site because 1) They see all these pros who have their name on the site and they want the chance to talk to them, talk poker with them, and bullshit with them about their great lifestyle. And 2) they come to a site for contests, free money, and freerolls. Thomas did a great job doing #2, getting people involved.
As far as my first point goes, how many other big name pro's have ever been on the forums? I think the post total is at 1.
People who stay are those who actually like bullshitting about day to day things, they like busting balls with eachother, and have some friendships.
Ahh im writing a novel , just my 2 cents Neon
Dont worry though, we got the new VIP blogger lindsey to save the day. and truth is, i love coinflip just as much as Flip likes Facebook and the Jersey shore. I would like to see it get better, but its not up to us as members brother.

pretty darn insightful BobboSlice. Thanks for the input!"
& 2u2 Peldini!"

I know as a "regular member" I'm currently unable to set up any rakeback races.....but the notion is definitely noted and appreciated.

And I also realize as members there's only so much we can do with regard to the actual running of this site.
Thought though, this thread might get some views, reviews, and ideas going, etc.
& Hopefully it'll provide some feedback for the "high-holies" ...whomever they are, & wherever they are??

& Then again...I also kinda think that it just might come down to us making some of these calls for ourselves....and continuing to make sh!t up as we go along.
As the active elements involved in this little experiment, we do have some degree of input into whether or not the laboratory blows up... :geek:

at any rate, it'll be up to "the scientists" to record the results and adjust accordingly!" hahaa

Nice little convo going on.
@Bobbo....what is funny is the one "famous" pro who made his ONE post had nothing to do about poker. It was Antonio...and he was post was about his iced out watch. Lol

I think poker players in general after a certain point learn to keep certain things to themselves. You could play the same two cards twenty different ways and depending on different variables you could make correct decisions every time. So page after page of (perhaps ill conceived) strategy can get boring, or become self sabotage if one can't randomize his/her play to a large degree.

So I can't blame the VIP's too much for not going into strategy. But I can't stand some of the turds on 2+2 so this is my home.

In all fairness, it IS Christmas and we all deserve to have some vacation from time to time :) There are still people working on this site and I am also still one of them. Just to clear up any misunderstandings, here is what has happened:

I have been offered a full time job with the danish site in the Coinflip-group, which I have accepted. That means I am still a part of the Coinflip-group, but going forward I wont be setting up new promotions, competitions etc. for Coinflip.com. I have been asked by Mikko Hirvonen - who btw. is the new CEO of Coinflip.com - to keep monitoring/administrating the forum in the future until further notice, so for the time being I will still be around.
I have great confidence that a full time replacement for me will be found in January and hopefully he will post something in this thread to try and explain to you all what is going on with Coinflip at the moment (I can say this much: there will be some changes to this site, and they are worth waiting for - they are working hard behind the scenes to bring you the improved and updated Coinflip.com a.s.a.p.).

I wish you all a happy New Years!

/Thomas
