The two biggest stacks at the start of the final table, Aaron Gustavson and Peter Eastgate made it to heads up stage at the PokerStars EPT London main event, with the former making quick work of the World Champion to take down the title and the £850,000 prize money.
Gustavson started with a 2:1 chip advantage, and increased it to 3:1 in the very first hand when his check-raise on the river forced a fold from Eastgate. Just a few minutes later came the deciding hand:
Eastgate opened for 350k, Gustavson re-raised to 900k, Eastgate quickly shoved for about 5m, call. Eastgate turned over A9 and found himself dominated vs Gustavson's AQ. Nobody hit anything on the board and Gustavson's win was sealed.
Coming from East Northport, NY, Gustavson won the 1.5k NLHE at the Borgata Summer Poker Open for $53,000 in June. With this win his tournament earnings are approximately $1.4 million.
Since winning the Main Event less than a year ago, Peter Eastgate won the 4.8k NLHE event at the PCA last January and defended his title at the WSOP Main Event brilliantly, making a deep run before bowing out at 78th place. His tournament earnings are now about $10.4 million which lifts him to 7th place on the all-time money list.
