In his fresh blog entry, Andrew "good2cu" Robl talks about his debut in the popular High Stakes Poker. Hearing who Robl was up against makes every poker fan wish it was already February when the new episodes are due to start airing; however, we will give no spoilers about the results.
Robls mentions that he had been hoping to get a chance to take part in HSP for a long time, but when the call finally came, he wasn't given too much time for preparations.
"The call came at 11:00 a.m. It was from Mori Eskandani, a producer with High Stakes Poker... Mori told me I was getting my shot. But I’d need to be at the Golden Nugget within four hours, prepared to buy in for a minimum of $200,000," Robl writes.
Robl didn't just manage to raise $200k in cash; he raised 400k and made it to the Golden Nugget in time.
"Some people go on High Stakes primarily because they want to appear on TV. The money that may be won or lost is secondary. That is not my situation. My $400,000 meant a lot to me. I was there to win," Robl says.
Players in Robl's table included Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Patrik Antonius, so "good2cu" probably has played in softer tables during his career... "I stayed confident and had a really good time, especially after I got used to play suddenly stopping for makeup retouches and camera adjustments," he writes.
Read Andrew's blog entry, where he also talks about Isildur1 and his good friend Tom Dwan and their online battle, plus some high stakes living in Vegas. The entry doesn't contain any spoilers about the results in HSP.
