Annie Duke recently hosted a charity tournament named "Sucking Out on the Rivers" at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The title refers to the recent events during Annie's appearance on The Celebrity Apprentice where she did not get along well with Joan and Melissa Rivers.
The event benefited International Refugees and while Joan Rivers was not invited, poker pros and Annie's fans, including some impersonators, showed up dressed up as Joan. The event was a $200 NL Hold'em with rebuys.
Annie Duke made it very clear that being on The Apprentice was because of her charity, not about Joan Rivers and Co. In the poker world, we all know Duke was the real winner of the show and she stated that all she cares about is the charity. “People shouldn’t feel bad for me for not winning,” she said.
The poker player also invites those who were disappointed for her not beating Joan Rivers to instead educate themselves about the 40 mill people in the world who are displaced due to war and turmoil in their countries. “When people are educated they can put pressure on their representatives to make a change,” she said.
