Day 4 at the PokerStars EPT Berlin was interrupted at about 2pm local time when 6 armed men entered the casino and allegedly tried to rob the prize money of a €1,000 side event!
A statement released on PokerStars Blog says, "An armed robbery by six men took place today at EPT Berlin. Nobody was seriously injured. We hope to re-start all events at 4pm local time. A police investigation is under way. If you have video footage or photographs that could help the police, please contact the EPT organizers as soon as possible." Kirsty Thompson (kirstyt@ept.com).
Reportedly the incident caused quite a turmoil on the tournament floor; people were running around in panic and the players' chip stacks were toppled over, so the staff will have some work to do to get everything in order once the main event continues.
21 players remain at the main event at the time of the interruption with Kevin MacPhee still holding the lead.
More information is coming when the livestream continues.
