Speculation about Betfair's upcoming IPO is strong after the British gambling giant hired Morgan Stanley director Mark Brooker as their new head of strategy.


According to eGaming Review, Betfair has also been holding talks with leading institutional investors Fidelity and Gartmore.

Potential worth of the IPO is estimated at £1.5 billion. Current main stake holders are co-founders Andrew Black and Ed Wray (combined 25%) and the Japanese bank SoftBank (23%).

After the flotation Betfair is likely to start pursuing a consolidation strategy within the industry.
