Coinflip is very pleased to announce that you can now use your Coins to purchase 1 to 12 month memberships to Phil Galfond's training site Bluefire Poker. Phil talks about his site in an interview with Coinflip.

High stakes cash games regular Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond is also known as an excellent teacher in poker, and his strategy articles are always highly recommended. Phil has personally handpicked all the pros who create the video content with him for Bluefire Poker. "I hand pick all of our pros to make sure they're people who play great, and can explain exactly how they do it.  There are many great players who can't teach well.  We don't have any of those," says Phil to Coinflip.com. Apart from the man himself, the coaches on Bluefire Poker include LAPT winner and 10/20 regular Ryan "Fees" Fee and Don "SoCalQuest" Nguyen who's an excellent coach for micro and low stakes games. Check out the Bluefire Poker pro team here.

Apart from videos, Bluefirepoker.com also has strategy articles, blogs and a forum.

Coinflip.com and Bluefirepoker.com both enjoy a very good reputation in the business and we believe that this co-operation will benefit both parties. Here, Phil answers a few questions and explains what he expects from the deal.

What kind of players benefit most from watching your training videos?

"I think that people of all levels can learn quite a bit from my videos.  I definitely target them more towards players who are already solid winners, and they'll be the ones benefiting the most.  Guys who are stuck at 1/2 or 5/10 and can't break through into the big games."

What sets Bluefire Poker apart from other training sites like CardRunners?

"Cardrunners is a great site, as are most of our other competitors.  We've tried to differentiate ourselves from the rest by creating fewer videos, but making sure 100% of the videos we release are high quality and extremely relevant.  I hand pick all of our pros to make sure they're people who play great, and can explain exactly how they do it.  There are many great players who can't teach well.  We don't have any of those."

Many players complain that cash games are drying up partly because of training sites; what's your view on this?

"Games are definitely getting tougher.  Training sites, I'm sure, have played some part in it.  I don't think there is much to comment on though.  Getting a job at a top law firm is difficult because tons of people train at top universities to become lawyers.  Becoming a professional basketball player is hard, even when you have natural abilities, because so many athletes are working hard with coaches, trainers, nutritionists, and whoever else to be as good as they possibly can be.  Poker is a competitive game, and players need to work hard and use every tool neccesary to gain a competitive edge.  It's just how things work. "

Can you describe your own learning process when you were an up and coming player?

"I actually learned quite a bit from training videos when I transitioned from SitnGos to cash games.  It was very helpful to see how top players were playing and thinking.  The best thing for my growth as a player was talking to friends who were as interested and passionate about learning the game as I was."

You recently recorded a part of your session with Isildur1; are we gonna see a full training video of you playing him?

"You may, but definitely not anytime soon.  In a couple years, if he's not around anymore, or I'm not playing much anymore, it'll likely surface. However I did a recap of some of the hands we played which can be found here: http://www.coinflip.com/news/video-phil-galfond-vs-isildur1.html."

Give us your thoughts on the co-operation between Coinflip and Bluefire Poker?

"Though the exact details aren't worked out, we're brainstorming ways that the members of Coinflip and Bluefirepoker.com can each benefit from our cooperation.  Coinflip seems like a well run company with a great team behind it and we're looking forward to working with them."
