Last week PokerStars froze ten player accounts after finding evidence that the nicknames in question were bots. The bots had been operating at the NL50 through NL200 6-max games playing more than 8 million hands, generating huge amounts of rake and making over $57,000 in game profit.

Like often, the poker world was first alerted to the presence of the bots by the posters on the 2+2 forum (see thread here). Pokertableratings.com investigated the matter further and you can read their findings here.

In short, there were ten nicknames involved: 7emenov, mvra, demidou, feidmanis, bakabar, nakseon, koldan, craizer, kozzin, and Daergy. All played a remarkably similar tight game with very low winrates, but thanks to the volume their combined profit was $57,839 and that's not including any VIP benefits. The accounts had generated $186,572 in rake. Each of the accounts had essentially the same stats and betting patterns, and they moved between the levels together.

PokerStars investigated the matter and has frozen the accounts in question.

Below is a screen cap from Pokertableratings showing part of the stats for the bot accounts.
