In his blog, Brian Townsend talks about his start to this year's WSOP and says it's been a "really bad one". Not so in the tournaments, where he cashed a very respectable $128,666 for 13th place in the $40k NLH, but in the side games where he has already lost $235,000.

The first session was $200/$400 PLO which brought a loss of $115,000, and the other was $100/$200 NHL with an extra $400 on the button. "I think I played well except for the evening of playing PLO where I got a bit tired towards the end of the session.  I made one or two plays that I don't think I would have made if well rested," he says.

Most of the loss came in a few big pots, which Brian describes in detail, you can read them here.

At least May was a good month for the CardRunners pro. He won $150,000 in cash games and made $63,000 profit in tournaments. "Hopefully I can have a great June with the live cash games running during the series," Brian says.
