Online poker sites are reporting a surge in British traffic since the cold and the snow rolled over the country. As people are forced to stay home and sporting and other events are cancelled because of the weather, they are finding their way to the virtual felt.


In satellite pictures you can see the whole island covered in white, and for instance in Manchester temperature dropped to -16 C (3 F) on Thursday. This Saturday, five of the scheduled seven Premier League games had to be postponed.

While all this is going on, Betfair report a 20% increase in UK player activity after the bad weather started, and William Hill say the same thing.

Of course, it's not gonna last forever, and it's already been forecast that the temperatures will rise above zero next week.
