Cole South had a super day on Full Tilt Poker on Wednesday. The deck was hot for the CardRunners pro who scored what is probably his record for one day, $1.1 million. Our own Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies had to give up $750k, while his fellow countryman Patrik Antonius lost $350k. In the process South also took down the largest pot of the year so far, $634,777 against Ziigmund.
South's run started on Tuesday already, when he met Phil Ivey heads up at 300/600 PLO and took down $152k. Then on Wednesday morning South played Antonius and the Finn's poor run continued as South recorded another win, $350k.
Finally after an 8 hour break South came back to 300/600 PLO and now it was time to play Ziigmund. It started bad for South and at one point he complained being down "like a mill". Presumably the gods of the deck heard him, since his luck turned around right away and he started taking down pots. Finally South won the 4 largest pots in the session, among them the $634k pot. The money went in on the flop, and South's nut flush held against Ziigmund's top set.
Highstakesdb.com has been on repair for the last few days, so we'll see more results in later news. Source for this one was Pokerlistings (the link also contains videos of the largest pots between South and Ziigmund).
