Daniel Negreanu compares current U.S. legislation on online poker to oppressive communist politics, and encourages all serious players to move abroad. Negreanu says U.S. poker is on "life support".

Daniel Negreanu is one of the best known poker pros who have decided to leave to U.S. to return to the online games.

Following a short vacation, the Canadian native is now back in his homeland, where he is happy to be grinding the mid stakes games on PokerStars once again.

"It took a couple of days, but I successfully set up shop in Toronto so that I can play on PokerStars again," Negreanu writes in his Full Contact Poker blog.

"I already had a Canadian passport, but just like everyone else, I needed to attain the necessary documents then wait for the call from PokerStars security to verify the phone number, and voila! I'm back in action," he adds.

Once settled in his new location, Negreanu reveals to be aiming at the mid stakes PLO action on PokerStars, where players like Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies and Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond have been among the most active players recently.

According to the Team PokerStars icon, the games are here lively enough for him to join in, while he promises to partake in any games available in the future.

"As for my online poker plan, I'm probably just going to jump into whatever games seem the most lively, which at this point looks to be pot limit Omaha,"

"I'm going to stick to the $25/$50 game for now until I get used to playing online again. I'm hoping to play a bit of everything really, just fun to have that option again," he adds.

With regards to the recent developments in the U.S., Negreanu also has a sharp message to his fellow poker pros, who are currently being held away from the online tables.

"For this of you who can, I really suggest moving out of the Unites States of America to a country that will allow you the freedom to play poker in your underwear," Negreanu writes.

"During the cold war, the "Big, Bad, Communist U.S.S.R." was seen as an oppressive regime, while the U.S.A. represented freedom. Who woulda thunk, that to enjoy the freedom of playing poker online you'd have to move away from Los Angeles and head to Moscow. That's just bizarre,"

"Poker has changed dramatically over the last 40 years, and in order to survive, you have to adapt to the newer forms of poker, as well as adapt to new locations. These days, that just means, stay away from the U.S. because poker is on life support, but there are tons, and tons, of games across the globe to choose from," he adds.

Finally, the colorful Canadian also reveals his plans for the rest of the year, which includes playing a handful of major live tournaments, including EPT events in Barcelona, London, San Remo, as well as the upcoming World Series of Poker Europe, which will take place in Cannes, France, for the first time this year.
