Daniel Negreanu is one of the nominees in the Poker Hall of Fame vote this year. The Canadian pro talks about the upcoming vote and finds it strange that Tom "durrrr" Dwan is also among the nominees.

"Don't get me wrong, I know he is a great player, but he's 22... a lot can happen in a kid's life between 22 and 28. I know, because I was once a great 22 year old poker player, as well as an awful, tilted 24 year old poker player. I bounced back, but not everyone does, and that's why one of the criteria is 'stood the test of time.' I don't doubt Durrr will continue to excel at the highest levels, but he has to do it first, for a little while longer," Negreanu writes in his blog.

Daniel blames - if that's not too harshly put - the fact that the nominees were selected by a public internet vote for the first time this year. "It becomes too much of a popularity contest and it's easy to stuff a ballet to get someone in," he says.

For the record, Daniel doesn't think that he has earned the honour himself, either. "I was flattered to be nominated, but don't feel at all like I should be voted in. I don't feel like I have a lot to prove exactly, and I do think I'll get voted in eventually, just not now."

Daniel's number one candidate is Mike Sexton, who has played "high enough", is well respected for his game, has been around a long time, and most of all, "He simply has no equal when it comes to contributing to the growth of poker."
