Columnist Caroline Presno asked some top pros to share their tips for successful dating from the poker point of view. In a story published in the Huffington Post, here is what they had to say.

WSOP Main Event winner Joe Hachem is a protagonist of straight forward play. "Betting your hand straight up is very important in dating because then you can maximize your profits," the Aussie says. According to Hachem you should immediately make it clear what kind of a guy you are. However, some things are best left unsaid until you know each other better. "You don't need to let her know about your fungus infested big toe on your first date," says Hachem.

Chad Brown puts a lot of emphasis on tells in dating. "A tell to pick up on is whether or not she is testing you. Many women whether it be subconscious or conscious will do something to test you right away," Brown says. Then it's up to you to decide if you want to pass the test or not, and how to go about it. One example of such a test is when the woman makes unnecessary phone calls during dinner. According to Brown, "They may be testing you to see if you're the type of guy they can walk all over."

Hevad Khan also relies heavily on tells in dating. "The biggest tells people give off during dates are body posture related," Khan says. As an example he relates a story from his recent holiday in Korea. He met a pretty girl who spoke hardly any English, but seemed interested in Hevad. "Instead of talking to her in English, I watched her body posture and body tells in order to determine her interest levels", Khan explains his strategy. Unfortunately he fails to mention how successful this method was and if there was a happy ending to the story.

Of especial interest to male readers is the female strategy, of course. The Canadian pro Isabelle Mercier speaks of hiding your tells. "Being impossible to read would be the ideal strategy in dating, leaving your partner in doubt, making him want more because he is uncertain of where you stand and what you think about him." So there you have the secret of the other side, guys.
