In a rare update on his blog, Tom "durrrr" Dwan looks back at 2009 and some of the biggest and wildest poker games ever played, especially at Bellagio during the WSOP and later in the year online when Isildur1 came and lit up the high stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker. In retrospect it seems almost funny that durrrr invented his online Challenge because he feared there wouldn't be much action otherwise.

"I played a ton of poker in 2009, and unfortunately the results weren’t too great, mainly because of the last few months," durrrr says. Talking about Bellagio, he describes how a lot of players came to take shots when the PLO games were running at 500/1k or 1k/2k, but it just kept growing bigger and bigger and the swings got insane.

durrrr had thought the poker world wouldn't see anything similar in awhile, but then came Isildur1. "He is definitely a gambler, and gives a lot of action. This means that he can have huge wins and huge losses, unfortunately for me i helped him with his wins, while i recently got to witness huge losses he had to brian hastings," durrr says.

"I think initially a lot of people overestimated his ability, however he definitely learned very fast, and caught up to those expectations. He’s someone i’d expect to see around the highstakes games very regularly in the next few years," durrrr says. He also mentions that he expects more young players to come and try to replicate what Isildur1 did - and he hopes to be there to reap some profit this time.
