Team PokerStars online star Dusty "Leatherass" Schmidt has written a new blog, applauding fellow pro Daniel Negreanu for taking on Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in the SuperStar Showdown series.
Team PokerStars online pro Dusty "Leatherass" Schmidt has written a new blog on the CardPlayer website, discussing the latest developments in the online community.
Firstly, Schmidt reveals that he has just penned a new contract with his current employers at PokerStars, much to his own delight.
"I am proud to announce that I have renewed with PokerStars to continue to be a team online pro. I am really looking forward to remaining with PokerStars. I didn’t even give it a second thought when they asked me to continue being a team online pro when my contract was about to expire," Schmidt writes.
"I have considered it a privilege and an honor to promote PokerStars in any way I can. I played on there for the vast majority of my poker throughout my career so it is great to be able to represent a company that I 100% believe in. I have had a few things come across my desk that folks have asked me to endorse and the bottom line is if I don’t think it is a great product, I am not going to represent it," he added.
Smith, who is one of the most successful NLHE online players in the world and the author of books like the controversial "Don't Listen to Phil Hellmuth", also finds time to deliver some words of respect to fellow Team PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu.
Negreanu has spent much time recently working on his HU NLHE online game, and this on Sunday paid off as he defeated Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in the second of two meetings in the SuperStar Showdown series.
"I have to applaud Daniel Negreanu for taking on Isildur. That is one heck of a tough task that I know I sure want no part of. He is one heck of a heads up player and obviously has done well against some great players, so for Daniel to take him on in back-to-back weekends was pretty cool," Schmidt writes.
"Daniel lost some money, but given how much work Isildur puts into his game and how little Daniel is able to focus on heads up online poker, I think Daniel did himself proud to win one of the 2 matches he played in, even though he was down money overall," he adds.
Smith, who has played nearly 9 million hands and won $4 million on PokerStars himself, goes further in his post, celebrating Negreanu's willingness to develop his game and listen to advice.
According to Schmidt, this could result in the best year so far in Negreanu's career, should he continue his work to improve as an online cash specialist.
