Elio Fox was last night last man standing at the WSOPE Main Event in Cannes. Fox took a big final table lead all the way, eventually defeating Chris Moorman heads-up for a €1.4 million first prize and his career's first golden bracelet.
The World Series of Poker Europe came to a conclusion last night with the crowning of the series' Main Event champion, Elio Fox.
Fox entered the €10,400 NLHE Main Event alongside 591 other runners, making the event the biggest of its kind to be played in WSOPE, and creating a €5,692,800 prize pool - the second-biggest non-WSOP Main Event prize pool of all time.
Following five days of play, Fox eventually overtook the lead after busting two players with 12 to go, and he would go on to hold on to that lead all the way through final table play.
Returning with the biggest stack of all on the sixth day, Fox put on a display worthy of a true champion, knocking out competition until he was eventually heads-up with UK pro Chris Moorman.
Then, after a total of nine hours at the final table, the 25-year-old New Yorker eventually finished off Moorman too.
Both players got it in preflop, but a shortstacked Moorman was in serious need of help holding
against Fox, who had him dominated with

The dealer didn't offer any surprises or helping hands, as he laid out a

, which gave Fox the victory for good.
The former college student besides the prestigious win picked up a €1.4 million first prize, as well as his first WSOP bracelet.
The cash is the biggest in Fox' career, nearly doubling his former record from the Bellagio Cup earlier this year, where he finished first for $680,000.
Chris Moorman played an equally impressive final table, but could do little to overcome Fox' momentum.
With a win, the young Brit could have overtaken Ben Lamb for the WSOP Player of The Year title, but instead he will now have to settle with second and a €800,000 runner-up prize.
Third was Germany's Moritz Kranich for €550,000, followed by Brian Roberts, who took fourth and €400,000.
