Berlin police announce they have released a man they had arrested last Friday suspected of involvement in the EPT robberty.
Acording to Associated Press the man was questioned for hours but he denied any involvement in the €240,000 robbery.
Other sources state that the man, described only as an arab, was involved in another casino robbery in Berlin six years ago. It's not clear whether this was the main reason the man was arrested or did some evidence link him to the EPT robbery.
Responsibility issues have been debated after the robbery. PokerStars officials had this to say, "EPT events are run by local organizers. In the case of the EPT Berlin event, it was the Spielbank Berlin. Hence, they are responsible for the security team."
Poker News Daily have a comment from the WSOP organizers Harrah's representative Seth Palansky. He hints that Harrah's may take extra measures to guarantee safety in the upcoming WSOP, even though he says, "It really is night and day what happened in Berlin. We’re a casino and we’re used to having all of these scenarios.” (EPT Berlin robbery did not take place in a casino but in the Grand Hyatt hotel where the tournament was held.)
"There are hundreds of cameras at the WSOP and the Amazon Room is treated like a gaming floor. I don’t want to reveal security plans, but we feel very comfortable with what we will have in place to ensure it’s a safe place to be,” Palansky adds to Poker News Daily.
