As part of the ceremonies preceding the WSOP Main Event final table heads up, poker legends Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington were officially inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame.

"I want to thank the media representatives and the Hall of Fame for voting me in before Tom Dwan," quipped Seidel who started his professional gambler's career as a backgammon player before Dwan was even born.

"It was also nice to hear that Harrah's pays the buy-in to the Main Event for all Hall of Famers," he continued - before admitting he was only joking.

Some had raised doubts about Dan Harrington's credentials as a Hall of Famer but that was only because it was not widely known that he did play high stakes games in New York and in California. Harrington touched this subject in his speech, telling a story of how he once talked with the Binion's Horseshoe chief and WSOP founder Jack Binion. "If I had your poker skills, I would play high stakes games all the time," Binion said, to which Harrington answered, "Jack, if I had your money, I wouldn't play poker at all."

Harrington also talked about the old days at New York's Mayfair Club when he and Erik Seidel were up-and-coming players and compared it to the challenges that today's young pros face.

Poker Hall of Fame was started in 1979 by Benny and Jack Binion. See the news at WSOP.com for a total list of the current Hall of Famers.
