Erik Seidel has set a unique record on the World Poker Tour circuit. Seidel, who is third in chips ahead of the WPT Hollywood Poker Open final table, is the only player to have cashed in all of the tour's nine seasons.
Erik Seidel has reached yet another benchmark in his already impressive career with his most recent deep run at the WPT Hollywood Poker Open at the Hollywood Casino in Indiana.
Seidel, who entered the $10,000 event alongside 97 other runners, is currently placed third ahead of today's final table play, stacking 526,000 chips in front of him.
With his qualification to the final table, Seidel is already sure to cash in at least $31,021, and that makes him the only player in WPT history to have cashed at least once in all of the tour's nine seasons.
Seidel's record run in Indiana is just the latest in a series of truly remarkable achievements from the New York legend, who has cashed more than $4.3 million in 2011 alone.
With a first prize of $273,664 at the Hollywood Poker Open, that number could boost to $4.5 million if Seidel takes first prize, but before that can happen he will need to overcome a strong final table, consisting of some of the most feared tournament pros in the U.S.
Heading to the final table as chip leader is Steve Barshak with 601,000 chips, followed by 2010 PCA Main Event winner and Big Game contestant William Reynolds with 541,000.
Trailing Seidel in fourth place is Mike Scarborough with 467,000, followed by veteran Allan "Chainsaw" Kessler with 226,000.
Ali Eslami, who recently won the WSOP-C Rincon event for $282,242 is sixth with 204,000 while 2010 NAPT Deepstack Extravaganza winner Tom "kingofcards" Marchese is seventh with 182,500.
Finally, Terry Jacobs and Andy Whetstone will occupy the eighth and ninth seat at the table with 106,000 and 83,500 chips, respectively.
Play is set to commence at noon local time, with live updates and video interviews from the final table available from the WPT website.
