Cake Poker announced on Friday that they are forced to close their doors from French players for the time being. This decision affects all skins on the Cake Network, including PowerPoker.
The reason behind the forced decision is the new gaming law in France. While the country's market will open up to competition, all operators are required a license granted by the French authorities. They will have to apply for a license immediately and won't be able to serve French customers until it has been issued.
The French players' current accounts are not just put on hold but they will have to closed permanently. The new law requires that French players will be able to play only on accounts that are opened after the license has been issued.
No timetable for the licensing process has been given. "We do hope to welcome French players back to our software soon. I apologize for the inconvenience caused," Cake Poker said to Compatible Poker.
