Last day of January was a fitting end to Patrik Antonius' month at the high stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker, as he lost another 572k to take his total losses in January to $1.75 million. Usually the Finnish superstar either wins a lot or loses very little, but this time he has had to taste the ugliest side of variance. It's a completely different song for Gus Hansen, who has made a strong start and won 1.74 million in January. It was the same in 2009, when Gus had a great start but ended up losing 5.5 million; obviously this time he's hoping history won't repeat itself.
Four other players made a million in January, among them Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies despite playing only 9,610 hands. Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro played mostly mid stakes and his shots at high stakes broke about even.
