PokerStars have set up a relief fund to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake, giving their players a chance to make a contribution straight from their PokerStars accounts. The players have come through admirably, donating almost half a million dollars in just a few days. Yesterday the counter stood at $474,638, and what's best, PokerStars will match every dollar donated by the players and give the money to the Red Cross.

The earthquake hit Haiti where it hurt the most and completely destroyed the capital Port-au-Prince. Hundreds of thousands are feared dead, and tens of thousands of children have lost their parents. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and the people need all the help they can get.

PokerStars relief effort will continue until January 31st so you still have plenty of time to make your contribution.

There are two ways of making the donation:

- In the PokerStars lobby, go to Tourney >> Special and enter one of the dummy 'Haiti Earthquake Relief' tournaments listed there. 'Buy-ins' range from $1,000 all the way down to $1. You will not need to play an actual tournament, instead all of the 'entry fees' go straight to the fund.

- Alternatively you can make a private player transfer for any amount to the account 'Haiti Fund'. Go to 'Requests' in the client top menu and select 'Transfer Funds'.
