High Stakes Poker came back this week with a new set of players. The new group was very active but it was again the young guns, who took the centre stage; especially Dario Minieri with some outstanding reads.
On the very first hand, Eli Elezra decided to prove Dwan that he was more experienced. Dwan made it $3,000 to play holding 8 6 offsuit, Alan Meltzer called with Kc 9c and Elezra called with Ad 2d. The flop was 10 5 4, 2 diamonds. Elezra bet $16,000, Dwan raised to $46,200, Meltzer folded and Elezra made it to $196,800 and Dwan folded immediately shipping the pot to Elezra.
Some hands later Eli Elezra would face the other young gun, Dario Minieri. Elezra was dealt pocket Kings and fired $4,000 pre-flop and Minieri raised to $13,000 with Ah 9h and Elezra called. The flop was 8 8 K giving Elezra the full house. Both players checked. The turn was a Q and Elezra checked, Minieri bet $14,500 and Elezra called. The river was an Ace giving Minieri top pair. Elezra bet $35,000 and Minieri, after thinking for a few seconds, folded.
David Peat also faced Minieri during the show. During this hand Elezra made the first live straddle of the night for $1,600. Minieri has pocket tens and raised to $5,500, Peat re-raised to $16,500 with Ad 4d and only Minieri called. The flop ran J A 2 and both players checked. The turn was a 5 and both players checked again, the river was a 6, Peat bet $25,000 and Minieri folded making one of the various good reads he made during the show.
The final hand of the show was again between Elezra and durrrr. Dwan raised to $6,000 with 7d 3d, Meltzer called with Ac 3c and Elezra called with As Ts. The flop fell 8 4 A with two diamonds and Dwan bet $14,000 on his flush draw. Meltzer called and Elezra raised to $45,000, Dwan asked for a count and called and Meltzer got out of the way. The turn was the Jh and both players checked then the river was a K and Dwan missed all his outs. Gabe Kaplan commented “Dwan is very likely to bet here because he is Durrrr, he has seven-high, and he knows that Eli’s hand probably isn’t very strong.” And so Dwan bet $57,300 and Elezra, after some consideration, called and took the $246,600 pot down.
