On episode 3 of prestigious poker TV show High Stakes Poker we saw Daniel Negreanu, Peter Eastgate, Eli Elezra, Tom 'durrrr' Dwan, Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies, Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein and David Benyamine battling at the Golden Nugget. Some outstanding play went on, but it was a dark episode for Daniel Negreanu.
During the very first hand of the episode Negreanu raised to $2,500 with Ad 7d. Doyle Brunson smooth called with KK and Elezra raised to $13,300 with pocket nines making Negreanu fold. Brunson then moved all-in for $95,600 and Elezra called. Both players agreed to run out the board twice, the first one ran J 8 7 Q 7 favouring Brunson and the second one gave Elezra a flush with 9h. The $195,700 pot was split.
On the second hand Negreanu called with A8 suited on the BB, Greenstein raised to $4,000 on the button with JT, the board gave Greenstein the nuts as it fell Q 9 8. Negreanu checked and Greenstein fired $5,000, Negreanu called. The turn brough an Ah and Greenstein bet $15,000 and Negreanu called. The river was a K and Greenstein bet $50,000 into a $51,800 pot. Negreanu called although he could hardly beat anything that Greenstein would value bet on the river unless it was a bluff, and Greenstein pocketed $151,800.
Next hand had Eastgate raise to $3,000, Elezra called with Jd 7d, Ziigmund called with 33 and Negreanu called with T8. The flop fell K 8 6 with 2 diamonds, after two checks Eastgate fired $32,000 into a $13,600 pot. Negreanu immediately commented, 'I think you have the wrong colour' remarking on the large bet Eastgate had made by mistake. Elezra raised to $140,000 and took down the pot as Eastgate admitted he had grabbed the wrong colour of chips as he aimed to bet only $8,000.A player with Negreanu's experience should have known not to say anything.
The final hand had 500/1000 blinds, Negreanu raised to $2,800 with JJ, Eastgate called with 33, Benyamine called with 44 and Elezra called with 3s 2s. The flop was 7 4 2 with 2 diamonds. Negreanu bet $8,000, Eastgate called and Benyamine raised to $41,000 with trips, Negreanu called, Eastgate folded. The turn was the 4c and probably trying to price a flush draw or get raised by an overpair Benyamine bet $35,000. Negreanu went all-in and Benyamine called. I'm sure he was shocked when Benyamine showed quads.
It was quite a bad night for Negreanu, but hopefully he will make a come back on Sunday. Tom Dwan was surprisingly quiet during this episode (as he had been impressively aggressive on the two previous ones) and we hope to see more from him in the following episodes. It is a shame that Ziigmund keeps getting bad hands and chose to play tight, it would also be nice to see more from him in upcoming episodes.

benyamine showed the quads, not elezra.
I think daniel shouldnt have said anything about the eastgate over bet, untill it was his turn to act at least.
Daniel has run terrible in high stakes poker but just like in tournaments he likes to call to see if his reads are right! lol.
