The 1996 World Champion, Huck Seed took another major trophy beating Vanessa Rousso in two straight wins in the final of the NBC National Heads-Up Championship at Caesars Palace. The winner's cheque was worth $500,000.

Vanessa Rousso had played an excellent tournament, beating 5 tough opponents on her way to the final, but finally Huck Seed proved too much for her and she is still looking for her first major title.

In the quarter-finals Seed had dispatched of David Oppenheim in just 15 minutes, but his semi-final match against Sam Farha was an epic encounter that lasted fully two and a half hours. Meanwhile Rousso added the scalps of Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier to her impressive collection that already included Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu and Paul Wasicka.

Seed took control of the final right from the start and wouldn't let the title out of his grasp. He won the first match, then in the last hand of the second match the players saw a flop of Kd 8h 3h and both checked. Turn Ts, now Rousso bet 30k, Seed raised to 130k. Rousso had approximately 350k left and she moved all-in, Seed made a quick call. Rousso had made a pair with J-T, but was trailing to Seed's K-7 and the river brought no help for her.

Apart from his Main Event victory, Seed has 3 more bracelets and lifetime tournament winnings of $4.6 million. Vanessa Rousso has made almost $1.4 million.

On his way to victory, Huck Seed beat Jonathan Little, Gus Hansen and Glenn Chorny in the early rounds.
