Cash games in Bobby's Room at Bellagio have probably been the wildest ever in July during the WSOP and the WPT tournaments. "The poker games are out of control at the Bellagio. I’ve never seen games where so much money is won and lost each night," says Doyle Brunson, who has seen his share of the games over the years. Some bits of information are turning up here and there, and some of the pots won or lost or swings suffered are totally mind numbing:
- Ilari Sahamies has won a $1.7 million pot, but on Monday he lost possibly the biggest pot ever in a cash game at a casino, $2.4 million! (Hopefully we will later hear more about these pots from Ilari.)
- On top of that, in his fresh blog entry on Coinflip.com Ilari says that he is down by $3.5 million in Chinese Poker during his stay in Vegas. Highest game in Chinese has been played at $20,000 per point, and no points in guessing if Ilari was involved in that game or not...
- Doyle Brunson has been playing Chinese at $15,000 per point and in his blog he says he suffered a $2.1 million downswing in just one hour.
Those are some sick figures, to say the least. The biggest game seems to have been 2k/4k PLO, and other games running regularly include 1/2k PLO and 4k/8k and 2k/4k limit mixed games.
"The main players in the big game are from Finland. Great action guys, fun to play with. I'm sure you can figure out who they are," Doyle said in a Twitter update. It's Ilari and Patrik Antonius, of course, and some of the other regulars in the biggest game have been Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and David Benyamine. Doyle himself has played only a couple of sessions of PLO, which according to him is his weakest game. He was a winner on both occasions but has been content to play in the "baby games", as he calls a 4k/8k mixed game...
How about Ilari? In his blog he says that despite his sick run in Chinese, PLO has treated him much better and he hopes to leave Vegas as a winner when he flies back to Finland on Thursday.
Doyle Brunson has recently complained about the Big Game drying up. For now, he is having a blast. "Stayed up all night. Louise (Doyle's wife) called me crazy when I came in at 7:30 this morning. I don't know why, but I haven't felt this good in years," he said in Twitter.
