Daniel Negreanu has often complained about bad tournament structures on his blog. The organizers of PokerStars Caribbean Adventure asked Daniel's opinion before deciding on the structure of the $25,000 High Rollers event, and the Canadian pro is pleased with the outcome.
The event will start with 50,000 chips and 150/300 blinds, but play will continue with the same blinds for the first four levels. Normally play would start at 50/100 with the blinds rising after each level.
The idea behind starting higher and sticking to the same blinds for four levels is to have meaningful pots and more interesting poker right from the start.
"I think players are really going to enjoy what we did with the structure," Daniel writes on his blog.
"I'm not suggesting ALL tournaments should start this way, but for a high roller event, I think it's clearly and absolutely the best way to go," he continues.
