Many people feared it, and it happened: Tony G says on his blog today that Isildur1 will not join the PartyPoker Big Game IV after all.

"Sry for not coming, take care bud," Isildur1 said on an SMS to Tony G, who had agreed to stake him to the game and share the profit 50/50.

"To say I am disappointed is an understatement," Tony writes. He doesn't mince his words talking about the issue: "It has left a bad taste in my mouth. What you have to understand is that he reached out to me first and asked and then agreed to play. As far as I am concerned I am washing my hands with him and moving on. On your bike!"

Isildur1 had complained that the stakes were too small, but it was agreed that they would be raised when he sat down. There is no clear reason why he declined to come; Tony mentions his upcoming driver's test but it's hard to believe that this would make him skip a freeroll cash game.

It's also very unlikely that this was just a gimmick by the organizers to create hype for the game as it would be very poor PR indeed; most people will feel that the game is missing something without the most talked about man in poker right now.
