Last night Viktor "Isildur1" Blom battled against Terje "Terken89" Augdal in the SuperStar Showdown. Blom won the match and $150,000 after 1500 of the scheduled 2500 hands.
Sunday night another opponent bit the dust in the SuperStar Showdown cash game challenge on PokerStars. This time a young Norwegian fellow by the name of Terje "Terken89" Augdal was the troubled party in the encounter with Swedish phenomenon Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.
The match was fought out in both Pot-Limit Omaha and No-Limit Hold'em, two tables in each discipline. The cash game encounter was scheduled to last 2,500 hands, but after just around 1500 hands, Terken89’s start stack of 150,000 belonged to Isildur1.
One of the largest hands of the night came in PLO half way through the match. On a flop of
, both stacks hit the middle on the virtual green felt. Revealing
, Isildur1 had the stone cold nuts, but the Norwegian had several outs tabling
for an inside-straight draw and flush draw.
The turn was perfect for Augdal as it came
, giving the Norwegian a straight. Unfortunately for him, the river spiked
for a full house and consequently ensured Blom the massive $33,000 pot.
After 1500 hands the match was over, right after Blom had won a coin flip with 9-9 against Augdal's A-J. The board ran out
and by that ending the contest.
Rumours predict that the Swede's next challenger is tournament prodigy Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. This has however not yet been confirmed.
