Viktor "Isildur1" Blom last night won another SuperStar Showdown challenge as he defeated online qualifier "MASTERMIXUS" over 2,500 hands of $5/$10 NLHE. Blom banked $1,279 from the win.

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom last night further improved his SuperStar Showdown record as he defeated challenger "MASTERMIXUS" for $1,279 over 2,500 hands of $5/$10 NLHE.

"MASTERMIXUS" had earned his way to the SuperStar meeting by qualifying online, and was as result awarded $15,000 to bring to the tables for the battle against Blom.

Although stack sizes and blinds were just one tenth of those from the normal SuperStar Showdown meetings, action quickly got underway and just eleven minutes into the match the contender took the first all-in pot worth $1,140.

With the board reading 9h 3s 2c Td, Blom check-raised "MASTERMIXUS" and received a call. The river brought the 5s and Blom shoved for $995 but was called by his opponent who showed 9c Ts for two pair - more than enough to take the pot from Blom who had nothing but Kh Qs for king high.

Staying true to his usual aggressive style, Blom however refused to surrender, and by the 400-hand mark, the Swede had turned around the match and gained a $1,710 lead.

Another big turnaround came soon after, when "MASTERMIXUS" won a $2,000 all-in preflop pot, holding pocket eights against Blom's .

The challenger then significantly slowed down the pace, and during a 30-minute stretch, Blom won a full 51 of 60 hands, including 21 hands in a row.

Action then returned to the duel as three big all-ins gave the Polish challenger a $1,745 lead, but once again Blom fought his way back, thanks to especially a good run, which saw him pick up pocket queens and kings and get full payment on both occasions.

As the two players reached 2,000 hands, Blom was up a little more than $1,000 , and by this time "MASTERMIXUS" decided to shut down the action and wait for the end signal instead of trying to recover his losses.

This resulted in Blom retiring from the Showdown as a $1,279 winner, and the Swedish pro has now won six out of nine rounds in the series with profits of $351,486 as a result, according to the PokerStars Blog.

However, "MASTERMIXUS" will also have reason to celebrate despite his defeat, as he will get to keep the remaining $13,721 of his bank roll, while Blom prepares to face yet another challenger next Sunday.
