If you have played online poker on Zynga's Texas Hold'em application on Facebook you probably remember some players at your table who are desperate to get chips. If you do not play, then let me tell you I have seen MANY players who are just begging others for chips.
Funny part is, this is all fake money as the application does not let players gamble with real money, there is not even a deposit option!
However, players are allowed to buy poker chips from the application if they wish to nurture their stacks with them. Is it only me who thinks it is ridiculous to buy play money chips? Apparently, there is a large number of users who think otherwise and are willing to pay for them. Well, we are all entitled to an opinion.
Some players found a way to make money through this, now you can find virtual poker chips on eBay and you only have to pay half (or less!) of what the application charges. This was a very profitable business until Zynga decided to take action and filed federal complaints against at least seven different individuals or companies who sell the virtual poker chips used to play on the site.
Apparently, all of Zynga customers agree to be bound to the site's Terms of Service which specifically explain: “By the terms of service, buying Zynga chips from a third party will result in your chip stack being reset to zero. Selling Zynga chips will result in a permanent account ban and legal prosecution.”
I guess this will stop many illegal sellers, however I am sure the play money junkies will most likely start buying the chips legally anyway.
