Jeff Madsen has made the headlines with another strange prop bet. This time he has agreed to move to Israel for six weeks prior to the WSOP - and he has to stay there without contact to his friends and family via cell phone or other means.

"Just accepted a sick prop bet: I have to move to Israel until the World Series, no outside contact with friends, no cell phone, etc. 50k bet," Madsen informed on his Twitter page on April 1 leading many to believe it was just an April Fool's joke.

Madsen is dead serious, however - or as serious as a person making a $50,000 prop bet about moving to another country can be. "It came up that I needed some extra money. I agreed do a bet where I’d move to another country," Madsen explains. He made the bet with a rich businessman called "Manny B." that he met at a charity tournament.

Madsen's choice of destination is Tel Aviv, Israel, which has sparked some criticism on 2+2 where some readers are saying that a month in Tel Aviv is like a paid vacation and the bet would have been more challenging in some other country.

"I don’t know how much poker I’ll be playing, so I’ll be focused and can take time off before the grind of the WSOP. It’ll probably be good for me," Madsen says about the upcoming trip.

As a result of his previous bets, Jeff Madsen has a tattoo of Gavin Smith somewhere on his person, and he has also played the WSOP Main Event Day 1 in a court jester's suit (see pic).

In a similar bet made some years ago, the high stakes player and a notorious action junkie John "The World" Hennigan made a prop bet with his friends that he could spend six weeks in Des Moines, Iowa - a city without casinos or night clubs. Hennigan was offered a six-figure sum if he could last the six weeks, but he came running back to Las Vegas after just two days!
