Jeffrey Pollack announces that he is leaving his post as the WSOP Commissioner. “I’ve made the decision after four years of successfully leading the WSOP as a global sports and entertainment property,” he says to Pokerati. “Today is my last day. Friday the 13th.”

Pollack took the reigns after the 2005 WSOP and has successfully guided the series through the post-UIGEA gloom and some major changes, including:

- WSOP Europe
- Players Advisory Council
- "Globalization" of the WSOP
- More side events
- Supporting women in poker
- Ante Up for Africa
- Broadcasting, sponsorship and licensing deals

“I’ve achieved everything I set out to do and more,” Pollack says to Pokerati. He hasn't decided what he will do next, but there are many companies or organizations in the media, entertainment, sports, poker or gaming businesses that would love to have him. The WSOP are not planning to find a successor for Pollack's poist.

“I’m very bullish on the future of poker. The industry is just hitting its stride,” he says.

“Maybe I’ll even play the main event next year.” For the record, Pollack has never played a poker tournament in his life.
