It is rumored that the two-time world champion, ten-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan will feature in the upcoming season of the popular reality series Survivor.
The shooting for the 21st and 22nd seasons of Survivor has just wrapped up in Nicaragua. It has been rumored for some time that a well-known poker player will be part of the mix and the spotlight has turned to Chan.
Chan, who is the last player to win back-to-back WSOP Main Events in 1988 and -89, did not post any Twitter updates from July 29th to October 3rd, a time span coinciding with the Survivor shooting schedule, and was also absent from WSOP Europe.
Chan explained he was "on holiday with his family", but Cake Poker Blog insists that Chan's "holiday" was spent at the Survivor shoot.
All this is of course pure speculation at this point. Not everyone in the poker community is enthusiastic about Chan representing poker players. "MrMickHead" writes on the 2+2 forum:
"Throw PA (Patrik Antonius) on there and suddenly the female poker boom would be on."
Jean-Robert Bellande has also featured in an earlier season of Survivor.
