The Argentinian Team PokerStars Pro member Jose "Nacho" Barbero became only the second Latin American player to take down an LAPT event when he beat Nicolas Cardyn heads up for the title and $279,330 at the LAPT Punta del Este main event final table.
The only European at the final table, Cardyn got his chips in good with AK vs AT in the final hand, but Barbero rivered a ten to take the win.
"Nacho" Barbero is one of Argentina's top pros and a former Magic: The Gathering player. His main tournament achievements before this were a $925 side event win at the PCA and 6 cashes at the WSOP.
The event attracted 371 players to one of the most popular holiday destinations in South America. Punta del Este is located on the south coast of Uruguay.
