On past news it was reported that the LAPT (Latin American Poker Tour) Nueva Vallarta in Mexico was cancelled when there were only 89 players remaining. The reasons for this are still unknown and PokerStars (LAPT sponsor) has not made a concrete statement on what happened but rumours say that the tournament did not have all permissions required.

When the LAPT stop in Mexico was stopped by local authorities the 89 players remaining all received $5,000 and then the rest of the prize pool was splitted according to chip counts. On the bright side, PokerStars wants to offer the remaining players the opportunity to have a chance for the LAPT title.

"We know that many of our remaining players really wanted the opportunity to finish this tournament and earn their shot at an LAPT title. Although the tournament was suspended and the prize money distributed, PokerStars still wants to offer their players this extra opportunity. PokerStars will also be adding $50,000 in prize money to the final table."said Sarne Lightman, Director of Marketing for PokerStars Latin America.

The plan is that all players will receive the same stack as they had when the tournamen was broken down and they will participate in a freeroll. When the final table is set the 9 players in it will fly to Chile to play a televised table at the same time as the Viña del Mar, Chile final table. PokerStars will also add $50,000 to the prize pool.
