PokerStars has announced that the British pro and EPT San Remo winner Liv Boeree is the latest recruit in the PokerStars Pro Team.

The news comes as no surprise, since Liv Boeree has all the qualities to make the bells ring in any poker site's marketing department: she's fresh, witty, she has personality and to top it all she's a beautiful young woman - and she can play, too. After she left her previous sponsor UB in August, it was widely expected that she will be promptly signed by one of the two online giants, PokerStars or FTP.

26-year old Boeree is well known for her love of heavy metal, listing Children of Bodom, Metallica, Pantera, and Fear Factory as her favorite bands. Other things she likes: table football, making her own clothes, riding, rollercoasters and extreme weather. She also enjoys adventure sports like rock climbing and rafting.

After graduating from university, where she has a degree in astrophysics, she was working for an online marketing company when she discovered poker in an unusual way. "I saw an advert for a reality TV show offering lots of money as the prize so I decided to enter. They kept it a secret until the last minute that it was about poker, and it turned out that the contestants would be coached to play poker against one another. I fell in love with the game instantly, particularly after my first live win during the filming of the show!" Boeree describes to PokerStars Blog.

"On the show I was taught by Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke and the Devilfish. Annie and Phil have remained particularly influential to me and have helped me with my career even to this day," she continues.

Liv Boeree's live tournament cashes are just short of $2 million, mainly thanks to her $1.7m win at the PokerStars EPT San Remo in April.
