When Luke Schwartz entered the Palm Beach Casino in London to take part in his heat at the PartyPoker World Open V, he thought his recent casino ban (read the news here) wouldn't be a problem because it was supposed to be in place only at Grosvenor casinos. But the Palm Beach, a Genting Stanley Group casino, had him flagged as banned, too, and "FullFlush1" was stopped right at the door.
PartyPoker representatives had to go into long discussions with the casino staff, and for a long time it looked like Schwartz wouldn't be allowed to play. "Schwartz went mental at reception which didn’t help matters," explained an eye-witness to PartyPoker Blog.
However, the situation was finally solved and the casino agreed to let Schwartz play but only on the condition that the tournament organizers take full responsibility for his behavior. So, PartyPoker arranged a special escort to follow Schwartz around and make sure he behaves while inside the premises.
Behave he did, and not only that, but he won his heat - including Yevgeniy Timoshenko, James Akenhead and Ian Frazer - and now he is supposed to play at the final table of the tournament later this week, provided he is allowed inside the casino again.
“We hope that Luke will be able to take his seat at the final table, but we have no guarantees as yet. In retrospect, perhaps Luke should have paid for the egg sandwich at the EPT –- imagine if the casino ban costs him the chance of winning the $250,000 first prize? He could end up with serious egg on his face," said a PartyPoker spokesperson to Pokernews.com.
Schwartz was interviewed otuside the casino after his heat and you can find the video below. When asked about his infamous outbursts in the table chat, the surprisingly mild mannered Schwartz explains that at the stakes he's playing, poker is a stressful game and that's just his way of venting out steam and tilt. "That's probably my bad side (coming out)," he says and explains, "My anger just comes from bad beats and bad runs."
